Trading bots are becoming extremely popular, but they are also one of the fastest ways people blow their account if they use them blindly, I've used different bots over time, including martingale bots, and I've learned exactly how to use them safely without destroying my capital, In this article I'm sharing the real strategies I use to keep my risk low, my profits steady and my account protected.
1. Never run a bot 24/7: Alot of new traders think a bot should run every minute of the day, That's how accounts die.
Bots dont understand: sudden news, long trend, unexpected volatility, So I run my bots during specific sessions, when volatility is controlled, when there's no major news on the way, when the market is moving cleanly. Turning the bot off is just as important as turning it on
2. I set a daily profit target, This is the secret to staying profitable long term. For example, my bot hits 20%- I stop it for the day, my bot hits 10%- I stop it, my bot hits any target- I stop it
Bots become dangerous when you get greedy, small, repeated profits add up. Unlimited risk destroys everything
3. I use small lot sizes— even on big accounts. The mistake beginners make is starting with big lots. Bots dont feel fear. Bots dont care about risk, Bot will continue adding positions until your account cries.
so I use: small lots, wide breathing room, smart spacing, a bot with small lots can survive long trends, a bot with big lot dies within minutes
4. I always check news before running a bot.
Rule one: Never run a bot during high impact news, Example: NFP, FOMC, CPI, Interest rate decisions. Bots can't react fast enough, the market can move 500 pips instantly. News + Bot = Account funeral.
5. Withdraw profits instead of letting them sit, Another mistake traders make is leaving all the profits inside the account, if the bot blows everything disappears
So i: withdraw profits regularly, reduce risk exposure, keep my account safer, Grow slowly but consistently, this is how you survive long–term.
Final thoughts: Bots are powerful tools – but only when you respect them.
Here's the truth many people dont want you to hear, A bot can make you profitable, but your discipline keeps you alive. If you follow: strict daily targets, risk management, smart timing, small lots, news avoidance. Your bot becomes an asset instead of a bomb waiting to explode.
