So Reddit changed its Terms of Service recently. In the past, Community Points - including our beloved moons - were not acknowledged to have monetary value. This meant that prominent crypto exchanges would not be inclined to list moons. This defensive mechanism could be due to Reddit not wanting moons to be associated with money so that the SEC and other regulatory bodies wouldn’t come after it.
Because Reddit amended its TOS to allow for trading for Moons, several crypto exchanges listed Moons. Specifically, Crypto (dot) come, BitMart and Kraken. I am wondering what made Kraken change its mind. I know that the CEO’s aspiration for people to make a living from Community Points was put on record, so it could be a case of him delivering what he promised. But given that Reddit is 1) preparing for an IPO and 2) still in the red, why is it drawing attention to itself by changing the features of Moons?
I mean, I’m happy with all these listings but am baffled as to Reddit’s intent and motivation. Perhaps brighter minds than mine can explain?
