Today, I woke up to find 609 moons in my Reddit vault. This was my third payout from participating in r/cryptocurrency but felt so exhilarating that it felt more monumental than my first. You see, I started shitposting in the middle of the qualification period for my first payout. And was serving a one-month ban for my second payout. So, this was the first time I had received hundreds of moons. I felt validated for my posting efforts!

I know that some people just keep the moons in their vaults but moons are another source of income for me. So, without hesitation, I hopped over to Celesti.Trade to convert the majority of my moons to XLM, which then appeared shortly after in my Coinbase account. See the screenshot at the top of this article for proof! This is incidentally why I love Coinbase. It offers coins and tokens that are instrumental in me Z navigating my financial life. So here’s a shoutout to Coinbase. Thank you and please sponsor me!

Anyway, I then converted XLM to BTC. My month’s worth of shitposting yielded $20 worth of BTC. I think you may know my drill by then. I immediately cashed it out to pay down my mortgage. This gave me a powerful dose of endorphins and charged me immensely for the day ahead.

I believe I wrote about my moon farming methods in another post previously. You don’t have to find that article because I’m gonna summarise my method here. Basically, I asked people questions in the Daily Discussion thread. Sometimes, people responded with inputs and upvotes! Other times, my questions weren’t so well received but I still learnt something from the lone response or two.

Other than the crypto-related questions, I also feel proud of myself because I introduced something truly unique to the community. Leveraging my English teaching background, I personified LUNA and UST and wrote short stories from their perspective while the depegging and devaluation process was in progress. Apologies to those who may feel that I’m profiteering from this situation. I hope you don’t feel that my valiant attempt to pay down my mortgage is trampling on your pain. In any case, some of these stories were plenty well-received. I got 5 upvotes for each of them, which should serve as testimony that I’m a pretty good writer!

To add to the icing on the cake, a Redditor offered to tip moons to anyone who shared the number of moons he needed to receive to arrive at a whole number. I had intentionally left 80.76 moons in my vault, so this kind shitposter sent me 9 moons. Moral of the story: it’s worth checking out the Daily Discussion thread because these generous gestures happen fairly often.

I know I may be making a mountain out of a molehill for this $20, but it held significance for me. It demonstrated how I could adapt my writing to the needs of the Reddit community. This would help me speak with firm conviction whenever I needed to teach students to pay heed to the purpose, audience and context of a writing task. Bravo to me. Cheers!
