I have met an individual who has 3 degrees, 4 not completed business strategies, and more raw intelligence than numerous individuals. He has not taken any shots. It is not that their ideas are not good; they are great! But, there is always something else to work out, there is always a point to take into consideration, there is always a why not now? He's on a platter, anyway. The bad news... Is that it's what makes him "smart" that's keeping him there.
Intelligence Can Be a Trap
Individuals think that being clever at all times is advantageous. But the part of the intelligence is not discussed enough regarding action. Smart people see more…Smart folks see more. They can notice risky things that other people might not notice: They know where plans are missing and they 'do mental rehearsals' before taking action. In the simulation, it is almost always the case that issues arise. So they wait. They refine. They do an additional preparation. Waiting is to be done.
A trip into the woods of preparing for a road trip, except that there are no snags.
Smart people have a problem. It will be what I will refer to as "prep loop." Well, it's like this: You have a target. You start researching. The study has a level of complexity you didn't expect. You end up researching and so on. The greater the knowledge, the more it will seem as if there is more unknown. The more you know, the less qualified you feel. So you learn more. Hard work from the outside in seems to be what it's all about.
Responsibility is not an out to out but in to out. But, there is never a time when "ready" arrives. Learning dispels uncertainty; it brings it to light. The greater your knowledge, the greater your realization of what you don't know. Everyone is aware of the perils of leaping into water. The watcher of all things is still going over the ledges.
The more you begin thinking, the more it's just perfectionism.
Now the bite. Much of the idea of 'intelligent thought' is a disguised form of fear. It's research and research and research and developing a plan and developing a plan and developing a plan and waiting for the right time and waiting for the right time and waiting for the right time — perfectionism. Perfectionism is not a normal occurrence. It's about protection.
You can never become a bust if you don't get out! If it is ever 'almost ready,' then you don't know how much you can achieve. It's safe within the potential. It is easy to be sensitive to perception and can be done by smart people. Failure is not a "what," it is a "how" to an individual! This is why there are various excuses that go around in the mind and delay. Everything it's motivated for looks like valid. It is so effective because of this.

The Way Out Isn't in the Mind
Overthinking doesn't require more thinking! The reaction of the smart guy when he is in a situation where he does not know what to do is – he thinks more. It's not merely enough to think about how to get clear. When moving, it is not visible. Information is generated that analysis can't generate, which is generated from action.
The first half-assed botched version is easier to gauge the quality of how bad it is. Until you go, no market response, no feedback, no unanticipated problems. It's not the first to know who is making things happen. It's how well they are able to make those changes, without all the information. That is not to say they're not smart enough, too. It's another use.
Start at the End. Seriously.
The current best you can do is make the smallest step you can take right now. Not the correct answer. Lastly, the motion. One that involves positive action. Attach the 3 week's created email. Now print the text that you have edited since January! Complete the long-awaited phone call you've been preparing for the last 3 months! Because you're not ready, you won't be ready.
However, thinking does not mean doing, and does not break the circle! Past the first step, your intelligence will be with you. It is good to use when it is necessary – when there is information to be worked with – not during planning time. The most successful, who are doing something, don't wait till they're sure. They learned to act when they did not have much or any certainty and didn't let that stop them from taking some action. That's the skill. It is a trainable intelligence as compared to raw intelligence.
FAQs
Q1: What type of thoughts do smart people have more of than non-smart people?
A: Clever minds can perceive more possibilities, risks, and outcomes all at once. The more you can analyse, the more your brain has to think about doing something.
Q2: Is the preparation loop the same as laziness?
A: No! Laziness is NOT being unwilling to work. Well, preparing the loop is indeed a hard-working loop — that's going around and around. Does not seem like work, but it is no work.
Q3: What are the signs of overthinking versus being genuinely careful?
A: The basic guideline is: If you have been preparing, not doing anything, for the same objective for over 3 months, then you're overthinking, not being cautious.
Q4: Can overthinking be permanently fixed?
A: Does not remain fixed for good, but can be controlled. It's all about making it a routine, daily, of little things, little actions. Your brain will learn that "bad is better than good" and "little is better than much."
Q5: What is your first step out of the preparation loop?
A: If you have to do it, do it NOW, today, NOT tomorrow. Does not have to be lengthy or "perfect." A drop in the mail, a post on the page, and a telephone call. It's called the power of motion.
