What Ever Happened to all the Good Games?

What Ever Happened to all the Good Games?

Are you a gamer?  Maybe you can explain something to me.  When I was young, we had the Atari 2600 and the Commodore 64 (below in the picture and yes!  It could hook up to the TV!)  We had dinosaurs, too.  Anyway, the games were simplistic, but they were games.  There were rules to play the game.  If you weren’t good enough, iconic, “Game Over.”  If you were lucky, you got your name or initials in the high score list.

This is the Commodore 64 and yes, it could work with a TV!

Then the games evolved and developed complexity and story.  The stories behind the game got more interesting.  Then “cheat codes” were inserted, allowing players to get into godmode or have extra energy.  It was still a game and the cheats didn’t cost anything unless your friend had them and wouldn’t give them to you.

Now games seem to be funded by advertisements.  I guess in a way, it is fair, you get what you pay for and you can buy the game and forgo ads.  In the day, we used to hack 90% of the games that we played on the Commodore 64, but I digress.

There is still something different about the games of today.  They train players to check in every day to get more rewards.  Quite brilliant when you connect it to the advertisement's gimmick.  It’s like planting and farming.  They have a constant supply of people to watch their ads and generate more income.  I hate those Idle games….even though, I play one.

This is where it gets interesting.  There are some games that will reward you with either money or cryptocurrency.  I’m not talking about the ones that are obviously a gimmick.  You know, where people are dancing around with hundred dollar bills.  There are only two games that I  endorse.

The first one is Cryptominer.  This one has its own cryptocurrency Hora.  It has very little value if any at all.  However, it is a real cryptocurrency and it’s fun to say, “I have 43,169 Hora” to someone who knows nothing about cryptocurrency.  Of course, I have a lot more VTHO and it’s going somewhere.  Who knows, maybe Hora will be like the Atari 2600 boxes.

The other one that I do when I have no idea what to do is Rollercoin.  This is a cute, very old-style game like Space Invaders, Connect Three, or Tetris games.  Their angel on this is they want to be a faucet, but make it interesting.  So you set up your mining crap and play games to earn power, which does give you Bitcoin.  However, remember this is like a faucet, so it’s barely worth anything.  The games are cute, though.

I’m sorry if I babble, but I find it amazing and encouraging to see cryptocurrency and gaming merge.  It is creating new markets and profit for crypto-enthusiasts like us.

If you have any good games, real games, please introduce them to me...I'm in lockdown and going crazy.

Anyway, that the take for today.  Let me know what you think.
