Gears Launch
It seems like the developers are looking to revamp Axie Classic's mechanics to make it a bit more like Axie Infinity Origins, but instead of just going down the card route, they're going for a new mechanic, which is Gears. Since this new mode has been successful and there is a good amount of resource burning to upgrade Axie parts, I believe they are looking to do something similar in Axie Infinity Classic.
After the release of Gears during the Off-Season, players were able to try out this new mechanic. But now, in March, in Season 8 of Axie Classic, there will be the first season with this new mechanic in effect. There are two types of Gear that can be equipped on Axies for battles. The first is HP Gear, more geared towards Tanks, which, as the name suggests, increases the Axie's HP but reduces its Skill. The second is Speed Gear, which increases the Axie's speed and reduces its morale, and is most commonly used by DPS Axies or in a strategy where the Axie needs to attack first. ---
New Quest System
A new quest system has been added that will help new players get started in Classic while also rewarding experienced players. The idea is to separate quests into two modes. The first is Starter Mode Quests, which are easy quests for new players who don't necessarily need to have an Axie, eliminating the entry barrier for web2 players. In this mode, players can earn game resources such as gold, gems, and more.
The second mode, Guardian Mode Quests, is aimed at more experienced players and requires ownership of an Axie. These quests are more difficult, since players are already familiar with the game and will receive Gold and Dust as rewards.
Cursed Coliseum Updates: 66 New Cards, Regen+, and New Mechanics
This Axie Classic update has added 66 new Tier 2 cards, making the collection of changes available to your Axies' cards in the Cursed Coliseum even bigger. This greater variety allows players to create new strategies and makes the game more dynamic, because your cards will change as you participate with your team in the Cursed Coliseum and you will need to adapt to a much larger number of changes. There have been some changes to the Buff+ of some cards. A new HP regeneration buff (Regen+) has been added to the Scarab Cruse Level 2 card that regenerates 20% of the Axie's max HP at the end of the turn. The Attack+ Buff now lasts for a specific number of turns.
Finally, still related to the Cursed Coliseum, in addition to the addition of new cards, there was an update to the card curse system. Now when the card receives the curse mark, it can be replaced by two random cards of level 1 and level 2, increasing the number of possibilities and combinations. This is an interesting idea, because it will directly end up creating new teams and the player will need to think about how to use these changes.
