Shit was probably staged (how this perfect? Just graze the ear? Perfectly placed lines of action-hero blood across the face as the candidate pumps his fist to the crowd? Just had an attack on his life but wants to get his shoes first? Naaa, bro. Especially when you compare this to the last time Trump got shot at during a rally last election cycle. He responds differently when the shooter isn't a prop.)
Whatever. Life is WWE now, and if you give media a story they can credibly feed to their audiences to larp sentiment, you have reality. No one will disprove the authenticity of the scene until it's too late.
But anyway. This scene just guaranteed Trump the election. The optics: You've basically got Sly Stallone from Rambo running against The Cryptkeeper.
Politifi went nuts. Trump memecoins skyrocketed while Biden coins tanked. Prediction markets leaned even more heavily Trump. November would be a lifetime away in any other election cycle, but this is 2024. Image is everything, and Trump just reinvigorated the imagination of every bucktoothed redneck in the country about the country.
If the market isn't ready to turn bullish, good news would not be immediately reflected in the prices of unrelated coins. But it is. We saw a general upturn in the entire crypto market immediately after news broke.
But why is this good news? Usually, any sort of political unrest in the US leads to an immediate downturn in speculative assets.
The Shot is good news because the candidate faced no immediate serious medical injury, and the entire spectacle actually made US political infrastructure more stable, not less. Trump is more likely to win than ever, and if people can put that in the books, they know how to trade. Crypto is all about culture, and right now, Trump has given the culture a serious boost.
Trump has already stated his pro-crypto stance, which is in stark contrast to the Democrats'.
