"To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing, end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despisèd love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin?"
— Hamlet; Act 3, Scene 1; William Shakespeare
For a while, I've been thinking of posting/publishing my short stories as NFTs, both on Readl and Soltype (the latter as an eBook), since they get little attention here (and on read.cash, even before it stopped tipping). Such sites are clearly not the right place for them. Readl might be that platform, since what I have read about it strongly suggests that it could be, unless that's wishful thinking on my part. Of course, there's no way of knowing if they'll fair any better there (and past experience inclines me to believe they won't; it could be yet another dead end in my search for alternate income streams). I won't know if I don't give it a go, though. I might be pleasantly surprised.
Readl's terms and conditions and privacy policy seem reasonable enough (and login is through MetaMask or any other EVM-compatible wallet), so I'm hoping no KYC is required and I'll be able to supply fake details if asked for name and surname, etc.
One thing that does concern me is that it uses Moonbeam/Moonriver and I don't recall if the Hop exchange supports that as an option for conversion/transfer. If it doesn't, I'll likely end up in the same situation as when I was briefly collecting GoodDollars (G$) on Fuse: Earnings/income to which I have no practical access or use.
On closer inspection of the ToS, it appears that Readl hosts/stores content on AWS in some way (but exactly how isn't clear), so that's a "no" from me, then. Not so Web3 after all, then ... That is unfortunate. I guess I should now look at SolType to see if that's any good.
