Solo miner mined a block of BTC on a device with a capacity of 480 GH/s and earned $245,000.

According to the head of the pool «CKpool», Kon Kolivas, on which the block was mined, the chances of a solo miner finding such a block were less than 1:1000000. In other words, it would take him approximately 3,500 years to find such a block.

Kolivas congratulated the "super lucky" miner on finding the block. The computing power of this pool participant was only 3.3Th/s, and the block was found on a device with a hashrate of 480Gh/s from «Bitaxe». Such a device costs about $ 84 in Russia.

For block number 887212, the solo miner received 3.15 BTC ($244,400), including a commission of 0.025 BTC ($1,900).

SKpool is an unusual mining pool, it is a service that simplifies solo mining.

Unlike traditional pools, where the computing power of the participants is combined and the reward is distributed among all, the «CKPool» does not redistribute resources.

The miners work independently, but use the pool infrastructure to connect to the network and quickly process the found block.

Each miner receives a unique stratum connection linked to his bitcoin address. If the block is found, the reward goes directly to this address, eliminating the need for withdrawal through the pool.

Stratum is a way to connect a miner to a pool, which allows you to quickly receive data and send solutions without unnecessary delays.

This pool was founded by «CGminer» developer Con Kolivas.

«CGMiner» is one of the first and most popular bitcoin mining programs that allows you to manage ASIC and FPGA miners, configure mining parameters and optimize the operation of equipment.

«СKpool» eliminates the need for users to run their own full Bitcoin node and verify transactions. This makes it convenient even for home miners, although their chances of success are extremely low.

After deducting the pool commission, the reward is fully received by the one who finds the block first, regardless of the number of other participants.

For example, in September 2024, a bitcoin block was mined by a single miner with a computing power of 82Ph/s. This is equal to approximately 410 Bitmain Antminer S21 devices with a hashrate of 200 Th/s.

Using such computing power, the miner had a 1:7800 chance of finding a block. Such indicators suggest that it could be not one person, but an entire data center operating on an industrial scale.

I wish you all success in finding your Bitcoin block!
