Memecoin $TRUMP
The wallet in question is linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump and has seen its value of memecoins rise to over $1 million in just six months. This comes from blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence, who noted the $TRUMP meme coin which was sent to Trump’s alleged crypto wallet have gone from being worth $7,100 to over $1.16 million. The tokens were originally sent between August and October 2023.
The creation of the $TRUMP tokens were not directly associated with the former president but there is speculation about its potential connection to his ongoing presidential campaign. A common tactic of memecoin creators has been to send the token to celebrities to attract attention and generate buying interest.
The wallet of the former president now holds cryptocurrency assets with a value exceeding $2.6 million. Included within these assets are the likes of $750,000 worth of Ethereum, $733,000 worth of Wrapped Ethereum (WETH), and various other tokens, some of which were likely received without prior solicitation.
The $TRUMP token has managed to remain stable in price since its launch in August 2023. Its price surged from $0.19 to over $2 after Trump’s recent primary victories in Iowa and New Hampshire and this has established him as a prominent contender for the 2024 presidential elections. With a max supply of 47,000,000 $TRUMP tokens along with a current Fully diluted market cap of around $94,790,853, the token is trading for $2.02 at the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap.
With its popularisation on the rise and the increasing token value, it is clear that the $TRUMP token has been a valuable asset over the recent months. Their socials are booming and delighted with the number of holders and users of the token.
Trump has previously admitted his criticism of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. At a ally in New Hampshire on January 22nd 2024, Trump noted that he would oppose the establishment of a central bank for digital currency (CBDC) if once again elected to the presidency. He thanked former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, now endorsing Trump in the 2024 elections, for alerting him to the concerns associated with a potential CBDC. Trump told the audience:
“I will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency."
He also noted in July of 2019 that he was not a fan of Bitcoin, although the president has seen success with his NFT collection launch which caught the attention of the crypto world.
