Good day everyone,
I hope you are all well, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things Crypto. Today I will be doing a piece about the recent news from Solana, where they claim to have become the first Layer 1 with integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI). With AI the newest and hottest thing on the market in recent years, it will be interesting to see how it can work with a blockchain, albeit one which has been known for its unreliable nature in keeping the network online.
Blockchain and AI
A number of blockchains have been exploring the possibility of integrating AI into their network, looking to take advantage of the craze and fascination the public has with AI. Solana has claimed to be the first, with its Layer-1 blockchain set to roll out a ChatGPT plugin. ChatGPT is everyone's go to solution for, well, basically anything AI these days. It is seen as the golden standard in AI and Solana are jumping onboard quickly to integrate it into their blockchain.
The Solana Foundation released a statement where they noted the functionality of the integration of AI was developed by Solana Labs, and the plugin’s roll-out will be accompanied by a number of strategic grants along with an accelerator program. These will be focused on AI growth and its development on the blockchain. he AI accelerator program is intended for university students, while the strategic grant program will look at accelerating the use and integration of AI on Solana. Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana’s co-founder and the CEO of Solana Labs, noted:
"Every developer building consumer-oriented apps should be thinking about how their app is going to be interacted with through an AI model because this is a new paradigm for telling computers what to do. AI will make Solana more usable and understandable.”
Yakovenko previously stated he believe that the natural language interface enabled by ChatGPT is interesting and cool, and he believes its as big of a movement as when Microsoft Window and the computer mouse were introduced. He noted that:
"Every dev building consumer-oriented apps should be thinking about how their app is going to be interacted with through an AI model because this is a new paradigm for telling computers what to do.”
The plugin for Solana will be designed to serves as a reference for how AI can make it easier to understand Solana data and protocols. Users will be able to make use of the plugin to purchase NFTs, transfer tokens, inspect transactions, interpret public account data, as well as identify NFT collections by floor price.
They have also decided it is important to continue the development for AI, and have therefore raised the amount available in an AI-focused strategic grants program from the initial $1 million to up to $10 million. The Solana Foundation is based in Switzerland and works as a non-profit tasked with overseeing the decentralization, adoption, and security of the Solana network. They noted in a statement that:
“The grants program is intended to encourage the ecosystem to explore new use cases of machine learning models interacting with Solana protocols in safe and interpretable ways. The rolling grants program has already received 50 applications.”
Interesting times for Solana users. Although the network has often been famed for its network outages, with a constant meme of how long has Solana been up since its last outage, they are making excellent steps here. AI is certainly a fascinating area and if Solana make this plugin roll out smoothly with minimal fuss, they may be once again considered a serious contender as the Ethereum-killer. We shall see how it goes.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
