Mexican Crypto Trading Bot Scam

Good day everyone,

I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at a recent suspected crypto trading bot scam which has impacted thousands in Mexico.

Mexican Crypto Trading Bot Scam

Mexican media outlet PANews has reported that over 3,000 residents from the Tehuacán and Puebla regions in Mexico were victims of a cryptocurrency trading bot scam. The victims were left out of pocket after the trading bot was provided by the company AMG GPT and had previously promised daily returns. They also conducted numerous promotional events to promote their product and attract investors, but the company has recently shut down their four trading offices in Tehuacán and Puebla.

Other news outlets, such as Milenio, reported that the firm is a “cryptocurrency company”  and had made multiple claims that their crypto trading bots would guarantee daily pay-outs to investors. Several people told the outlets that they could no longer make withdrawals on the AMG platform. It has also been claimed that users initially made money with AMG, but the pay-outs began to dry up quickly. The “victims” said that staff members later told them they would need to pay “verification fees” if they wanted to make further withdrawals.

It has been reported by AMG customers that they also filed complaints and made attempts to visit the company’s offices in search of answers. A journalist from Milenio, Carolina Espinosa River, noted:

“The offices in Tehuacán have completely disappeared, leaving the premises empty. And, although some supposed ‘leaders’ have been identified, they have also claimed to be victims of fraud. They state that they do not know who is responsible for the scheme.”

The company also issued a statement to customers earlier this month claiming that customers would now need to “apply for a special credit card” named “Crypto-VISA.” It was claimed by the firm that this card would also offer a range of seemingly “guaranteed” pay-outs in exchange for high-price stakes. Around 100 people have signed an official complaint they have since filed with public prosecutors.

The pyramid scheme was brought down by a sudden influx of new “users” who were drawn in by previous users who had benefited by the bots program. The promises of “returns of up to double or triple their initial stakes” were too much for many people to turn down. The company had also previously issued a statement noting that the “financial department” was “reviewing the accounts of employees and certain users.” They also added it was now “cooperating with the tax authorities to clarify what happened.”

Customers have since confirmed that all withdrawal channels had been frozen, with associated “WhatsApp groups and other channels of communication” also shut down. Many users claim that had hoped for justice to be served and wished for refunds on their investments. Some victims reportedly invested as much as $1,000.

Have a great day.
