Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at Logan Paul's recent address of the allegations regarding CryptoZoo being a scam.
Logan Paul
The YouTuber Logan Paul has addressed the accusations made against him in relation to his infamous CryptoZoo non-fungible token (NFT) project. The NFT project was a complete failure, and in a documentary released on the 27th of March known as “5 Months with Logan Paul,” he stated that the NFT project was NOT a scam.
Within the documentary he gives an insight into the project, along with Logan Paul showcasing his perspective of the events that unfolded within the CryptoZoo saga. The documentary features journalist Graham Besinger and focuses on the demise of the NFT project along with all the backlash and allegations that appeared months and even years later.
Besinger noted in the documentary that Logan Paul’s CryptoZoo NFT project was basically a disaster which caused huge losses for multiple people. This lead to a spate of allegations and threats against the YouTuber. Logan Paul admitted within the documentary that the allegations had an element of truth, the NFT project was not inteded to be a scam.
“Everything you just said has an element of truth to it. Here’s the problem. What you just described isn’t a scam. I took on a project that I was simply incapable of handling at the time.”
Logan Paul went on to note that he didn't make any profit from the project and actually suffered a loss of “half a million dollars.” The YouTuber also went on to note that the saga and fallout from the failure of CryptoZoo led him to have suicidal thoughts. Logan Paul stated:
“For the first time in my life I was having suicidal thoughts. I was just spiraling, Graham. Spiraling. I was crying, like sobbing … I felt weak, which is uncommon for me. I’m supposed to be the leader.”
CryptoZoo was first announced by Logan Paul on his YouTube podcast in August 2021. He noted that the project was inspired by Pokémon but was designed as a fun game where users had the capability to purchase eggs and breed them to produce rare NFTs. The project generated plenty of excitement but never managed to live up to its heights of aspirations. Once collectors had purchased the initial 10,000 collectibles (priced at 0.1 ETH at the time) the development team seemingly let the project die off, with multiple delays announced as the project failed to come to fruition.
After CryptoZoo collapsed, Coffeezilla, a popular YouTube journalist, made a three-part series documenting the issues of the game, while also detailing the tribulations of investors who suffered financial losses. As part of the exposè, Coffeezilla revealed that Logan Paul employed multiple con men to work on the project, including a developer known as “Z,” who held the CryptoZoo source code hostage for $1M.
Back in February 2023 Logan Paul had a class-action lawsuit filed against him on the allegations that CryptoZoo was a “fraudulent venture.” Paul announced a buyback program worth $2.3 million dollars for victims of the game back in January 2024, and as part of the announcement he pledged to purchase NFTs at their original prices.
