A recent autopsy confirmed the identity of Kevin Mirshahi, a prominent crypto influencer abducted back in June. His body was discovered in Montreal park. on the 30th of October by a passer-by in Île-de-la-Visitation Park. According to reports the 25-year-old crypto influencer was last seen on June 21 when, along with 3 others, he was abducted from a condo in Montreal. The others managed to escape but Mirshahi’s whereabouts remained a mystery until now.
The report states that the investigation into Mirshahi’s death continues. The authorities have so far made one arrest, with 32 year old Joanie Lepage currently being held and facing first-degree murder charges related to the case. Mirshahi was a well-known figure in Montreal’s crypto circles but his eputation was controversial. He was facing regulatory action from Québec’s investment watchdog, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers, and had previously been banned back in 2021 from operating as brokers or investment advisers along with two associates. At the time of his disappearance, Mirshahi ran a crypto investment scheme called Crypto Paradise Island, a paid-for Telegram group offering investment advice.
Mirshahi was also prohibited from posting related content on social media. Some within the crypto community have alleged misconduct by Mirshahi. One X user claims to have been scammed by him. The allegations add a complex layer to the case as investigators probe potential motives. His death follows other high-profile crimes in the cryptocurrency world which included the murder of a 29-year-old Bitcoiner in Ukraine earlier this year and the abduction of a Chinese national for a $1 million Tether ransom in Malaysia.
