Horizen Labs and ApeChain
The Blockchain privacy firm Horizen Labs have partnered with ApeChain to integrate its zkVerify technology. This will help to reduce proof verification costs, while the zkVerify integration will aim to improve gaming performance for users along with reducing operational costs. This should in turn address some of the challenges currently facing Web3 gaming platforms.
Developers who build on ApeChain will make use of zkVerify’s zero-knowledge proof verification tech to optimize transaction processing and reduce proof verification costs by around 90%. Rob Viglione, co-founder and CEO at Horizen Labs, noted:
“By significantly reducing proof verification costs and supporting complex, transaction-heavy games through zkVerify, we’re making ApeChain a premier destination for Web3 gaming. This integration marks a significant step forward in delivering efficient and scalable blockchain solutions for developers and users alike.”
The blockchain technology zkVerify for Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs is a cryptographic method which allows one party to prove to another that a statement is true without revealing too much information.
The zkVerify technology is pivotal for privacy, scalability, and security within blockchain ecosystems but ZK proofs are known to be resource-intensive and costly. Companies need to balance the impact with the performance and economic viability of decentralized applications (dApps) and games that require rapid transactions.
The use of zkVerify helps to address this by offloading the verification process and therefore reducing the computational burden and associated costs. DApps which integrate zkVerify will achieve faster transaction processing times and lower operational expenses.
ApeChain will benefit from the zkVerify through its Orbit Chain, based on the Arbitrum network, and specifically designed for Web3 gaming. The platform aims to provide a robust and scalable infrastructure tailored toward gaming applications. This integrating will help with previous issues in the Web3 gaming space of creating a smooth user experience while also ensuring the benefits of decentralisation are maintained. This included the likes of enhanced security and transparency.
The use of zkVerify by ApeChain will streamline transaction processing and reduce proof verification costs, which could end up in million of dollars in annual savings. This will be reinvested into further development in the Web3 gaming space, according to the firm.
