Good day everyone,
I hope you are all well and are having an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things crypto. It seems AI may not be as all powerful and reliable as once thought. Recently the CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), has been caught up in a smear campaign which is making some strong claims against him.
AI-Powered Chatbot Mistake
The AI-powered chatbot, which works off of the famed ChatGPT by OpenAI, has been spreading false information regarding the founder of Binance, CZ. Within these claims, the bot is stating that CZ has a supposed affiliation with the Chinese Communist Party.
Over recent days Binance have received dozens of inquiries from congressional offices regarding these statements, namely trying to discover the supposed links between CZ and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
The Chief Strategy Officer of Binance, Patrick Hillmann, was quick to dispel the rumours as having no factual bias, and took to twitter with the following statement:
"To all the crypto and AI sleuths out there, here is the ChatGPT thread if someone wants to dig in. As you'll see ChatGPT pulls this from a fake LinkedIn profile and a non-existent Forbes article. We can't find any evidence of this story nor the LinkedIn page ever existing."
Hillman claims that ChatGPT got this information from a fabricated LinkedIn profile that does not exist and a Forbes article, which is also non-existent. He was quick to slate the AI software, and criticized it for misleading people while also damaging Binance's reputation.
"Like any new technology, bad actors will try and take advantage of it in the early days for profit or political gain. I hope raising awareness of issues like this prevents people from sole-sourcing an AI-generated response when seeking to disparage someone."
However, while clearly disgruntled by the bad work from the AI chatbot, Hillman also noted how Binance is spending time and resources into exploring a method of blockchain technology and AI working in tandem.
This is not the first time an AI powered chatbot has made such a mistake. Google's AI chatbot Bard, in its very first demo, stated that the James Webb Space Telescope took the first pictures of a planet outside of our own solar system. This is extremely false and misleading information, and can cause real damage in spreading fake news. Therefore, many organizations have asked for safeguards against the spread of disinformation by such tools.
The President of the United States, Biden, has tasked his administration with these safeguards, and they have recommended five principles which companies involved in the development of AI should uphold. Known as a 'volunteer bill of rights,' the principles include the likes of:
- data privacy
- protections against algorithmic discrimination
- transparency around when and how automated systems are being utilized
It is probably a good thing this happened in many way, as it will only raise the awareness of how dangerous misinformation can be and the damage it can cause. AI is of course an excellent development and will likely help take humanity further than it ever dreamed before, but always remember, no matter how real or factual something seems, always find the source. Don't just 'Trust Me Bro.'

Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
