Predictions
Now for the most exciting part, as I go through the latest info regarding each team to make an attempt at predicting the results for this weekend. Remember this is just my fun analysis and should not be taken as advice or a guarantee.
Arsenal - Aston Villa
A Friday night opener that will see Arsenal fans wondering why they ever sold a perfectly suitable goalkeeper in Martinez. His form has helped Villa with a decent start to the season. They sit in 13th but having lost their previous 2 games, Villa will be looking for the win tonight. Arsenal is only 1 point ahead and this is a direct result of the drop-off in form. After 3 wins in a row, they followed that up with 2 draws. I think being honest Arteta is similar to Ole, in danger of his position. A loss is due and this could be the game it arrives in. 1-2 final result with Villa earning a late-night victory.
Chelsea - Norwich
Lukaku and Werner will both be absent for this game, but given the strength in depth of Chelsea's squad, I don't think they will suffer against this Norwich side. I can see Chelsea comfortably scoring goals at the bridge in this one, and more than likely barring any slip-up will cement their place at the top of the table for another week. This should only go one way, and that's 3-0 for Chelsea.
Crystal Palace - Newcastle
Since the takeover and now with Steve Bruce gone, Newcastle fans have a lot to look forward to. Expect a different team by the end of January, even if its just a handful of players to solidify the team. A war chest is no good now though, and they face a Palace team adapting nicely to Viera and his style of play. Both teams are at the wrong end of the table, but with the events of the last few weeks, I can comfortably say I expect both to stay up. This game has a draw written all over it, and I imagine 1-1 would be a fair outcome.
Everton - Watford
Richarlison will be back available for Everton when Watford visits Merseyside. The Brazilian will bring back that determined focus to the team while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still injured. Claudio Ranieri is a manager with experience, and although he lost his debut with Watford against Liverpool, there is still a lot to come from his team. I expect this to be a close tactical battle, with Benitez having the benefit of a stronger squad. That alone is why I am backing Everton to continue the misery for Watford, and get a home win with a scoreline of 1-0.
Leeds - Wolves
There is one player who is a must-watch when looking at this fixture, and that is Raphinha. A star player on Brazil duty recently, he is ready to set the league alight. A difficult start to the season which sees Leeds in 17th, they need a rub of the green and the spirit and determination showed last season. For Wolves, the Barcelona loanee Francisco Trincao will return and could offer a different dynamic in attack. Overall this is a tough match to call, but Wolves have won 3 in a row and will want another. I am going for a 0-2 win for the away side.
Southampton - Burnley
Both these teams could be in for a tough relegation battle if we consider Newcastle should be in a position to drag themselves out of the bottom 3 during the second half of the season. Che Adams will be back to offer more attacking output for the Saints, while Burnley will wait on the recent fitness issues of Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor, and Matej Vydra with the hopes of having them all available. This game has a draw written all over it, and a win for either would be a massive boost. I'm going for a 0-0.
Brighton - Man City
Not expected by many, Brighton has maintained their impressive start to the season and currently find themselves sitting in fourth. With Man City just above them in the table, this will be a game all about technical and stylish football. The difference in class should show, but I wouldn't put it past Brighton to earn their 4th draw in a row. Webster, Bissouma, and Enock Mwepu are all in contention to return, bolstering the Brighton team for the test against the champions. City are managing superbly without a striker and should find the goals. An outside bet but I believe a draw is possible, and I will go for a 1-1 draw.
Brentford - Leicester
Daka certainly looked like the player Leicester was hoping for when they signed him, and those 4 goals were excellent in the comback victory. Marc Albrighton will be missing for the Foxes, but I think Vardy and co will get the job done. Brentford are sitting in the top half and if they can end the season there, it will be an excellent start to life in the top league. Leicester need to get the points on the table and I will back them for a 0-2 victory away from home.
West Ham - Tottenham
Both teams had mixed fortunes on their European endeavours, but Tottenham really looked lost at sea. Nuno needs to get them firing on all fronts, but in the League, they have picked up form and are only out of the top 4 on goal difference. If they can keep this up for the season I would place them finishing above Man Utd. West Ham is only a point behind Tottenham, and have formed a team capable of maintaining a challenge for the European places. I believe this will be a thrilling London derby and can see it finishing as a 2-2 draw.
Man Utd - Liverpool
The biggest game in English Football in my opinion. When Liverpool visit Old Trafford on Sunday evening they will be looking to continue their frightening form. Their forward line of Mané, Salah, Firmino, and Jota are scoring for fun. With each of them enjoying the sort of form which won Liverpool the League and Champions League recently, they are certainly looking like firm contenders. Utd on the other hand are sitting 6th with mixed results so far this season. Some will call it determination, some call it luck, maybe some will just say it's Ronaldo. Whatever it is, Ole needs to find a way to get consistent results from this team. If Liverpool turn up, and I think they will, this could be a goal-fest. Bruno may be missing, while Liverpool will have Allison and Fabinho back in contention. Unless Utd gets their defence in order, I will predict a result of 1-4 with Salah getting a brace minimum.
Have a great day and enjoy the games over the weekend.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
