Intro

Since their introduction in 2017, Automated Market Makers (AMMs) have established themselves as a foundational element of decentralized finance (DeFi). This setup facilitates the efficient matching of buyers and sellers, ensuring a fluid market interaction platform. Market makers play a crucial role within this ecosystem. Their activities, which involve adjusting orders based on market fluctuations and aiming to minimize the bid-ask spread, are vital for maintaining market efficiency.

The order book's primary utility lies in providing a real-time view of market conditions. It displays elements such as the 'top of the book,' which shows the lowest sell orders and highest buy orders where immediate transactions predominantly occur. The 'spread'—the difference between these top orders—and 'slippage'—the discrepancy between expected and executed transaction prices—furnish critical insights into market liquidity and behavior.

The Hybrid Model: Merging CLOB with AMM

The innovative leap comes from merging the CLOB system with AMM functionalities, resulting in a hybrid model that leverages the strengths of both. This amalgamation promises a slew of benefits:

The introduction of parallel execution virtual machines (EVMs) marks a significant technological leap, enhancing the matching engines of pCLOBs. By utilizing parallel processing, these systems can handle multiple order submissions simultaneously, reducing latency and improving the efficiency of order book updates.
