Axie Stage 2 2024 Announcement

Axie Infinity is emerging as a leading platform in the digital collectibles space, offering unique, evolutionary collectibles that distinguish it from competitors like CryptoKitties. Unlike CryptoKitties, which focuses on breeding digital cats, Axie Infinity introduces a more interactive experience. It allows users to enhance and personalize their Axies by modifying original parts, thus adding a layer of depth to the ownership and engagement with these digital assets.

As part of the engagement strategy, Axie Infinity has introduced a reward mechanism that involves the Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) tokens, named Mementos. Users earn these tokens by temporarily releasing their Axie NFTs into the ecosystem. These Mementos are received as ERC-1155 tokens and are stored directly in the user's Ronin wallet. While these tokens are not directly exchangeable for fiat currency, they hold value within the Axie ecosystem. Users can trade Mementos to further enhance and customize their Axies, with over 250 parts available for upgrades and personalization.

The process of upgrading an Axie is designed to be user-friendly and engaging. As players reach every tenth level, they unlock the ability to enhance a part of their Axie. This process involves understanding the materials required and the amount of Axie's native token, AXS, needed for the evolution. Users then navigate to their inventory, select the Axie they wish to evolve, and proceed through a series of prompts to initiate the evolution.

Other Game Mechanics

Battles

Axie Infinity's Battle mechanic is a turn-based card battler where players create teams of Axies to duke it out in the arena. Players draw cards based on the body parts their Axies possess and must play them at the optimal time to maximize their chance of victory. The battle system rewards strategic thinking and careful team composition, and each Axie has unique stats, moves, and abilities that must be considered in battle.

When an Axie is in battle, it has three moves available based on its body parts. Players can also use potions to heal their Axies or make them more powerful for a turn. The moves are powered by Energy, which regenerates each turn, and the goal is to defeat all three of the opposing team's Axies. The Classic version of the game was the first ever to distribute in-game resources as ERC-20 tokens.

In Axie Infinity, there are both player versus player (PvP) battles and player versus environment (PvE) battles against non-player characters (NPCs). Players must have at least three Axies to start a battle with other players online. During a battle, players can earn Experience Points (EXP) that can be used to level up their Axies.

One unique feature of the Axie Infinity battle system is that each Axie has a different set of body parts that correspond to different battle moves. This means that there is a lot of variety in the types of Axies that players can use and the strategies they can employ. In addition, each Axie has a unique set of stats, which means that players must carefully consider which Axies to include in their team and how to position them for maximum effectiveness.

Breeding

Axie Infinity's breeding mechanic allows players to breed their personal Axies to create new offspring with unique characteristics. The process involves using Smooth Love Potions (SLP) and AXS tokens.

To breed Axies, players need to select two of their Axies and pay a fee in SLP and AXS. The breeding cost varies depending on the breeding count of each Axie. Breeding can be done in the Axie Marketplace by selecting the "Breed" button on the Axie's profile page. Players can also use the Axie Tech breeding simulator to view the potential genes of the offspring before breeding their Axies.

Land

Land is represented by virtual NFT plots within the Axie Infinity universe, where players can buy, sell, and own virtual plots of land. Players can use their land to gather resources, build structures, and explore the game’s landscape. Landowners can also find AXS tokens on their plots of land or use the Axies that occupy their plots to explore resource nodes on the map, and plots can be upgraded over time using various resources and crafting ingredients that can be found in the game.

Owning a plot of land in Axie Infinity provides several economic incentives and potential value creation opportunities. For example, landowners can earn a passive income by leasing out their land to other players or using it for farming resources.
