Credit cards and the debit cards are not easy to replace. World is now used to those two cards. And the amount of progress blockchain has done now those tech are integrated into each other. Now the cards are allowing the bitcoin to be integrated with the tech and you can use the card balance in the blockchain tokens. 

In this case Waves card company has allowed the cards to be used with the bitcoin balance. And they can be top up with the help of the lightning zaps too. And some of the POS would be making use of the zaps and it would top up or accept too in upcoming times. 

However there is one catch like anything. You may notice that this card is only allowed in the nations under the EU union countries and UK. And so you would have to think of the bitcoin balance or the lightning zaps to top up. That's the only way to manage this. You don't need any bank deposits as such from what I have seen so far. But they do have KYC process for some nation to handle the compliance.

I tried but I got an error that said I am not from EU and so it'd be difficult for me to access this card. 

I like how the service promised that they are offering instant swaps and also the fee was less like 1 percent flat. And on the top of that they offering the vBAN account. Which means virtual IBAN accounts with the bitcoin balance. Which goes to show they are banking on bitcoin.
