The cryptocurrency world has evolved to include numerous changes in the business world. Many traditional business strategies, marketing campaigns, and financial structures have been brought to extinction or rendered completely obsolete through the crypto space. One such industry that has been greatly affected is Search Engine Optimization;

Some of the largest companies involved with search engine optimization the digital industry have restricted any cryptocurrency and initial coin offering advertisement. This has made it increasingly difficult for many startup businesses and crypto affiliates to advertise themselves in one of the most traditional forms of SEO resulting in more abstract measures needing to be taken.

Such companies include Facebook in early January 2018, banning all ads for cryptocurrency and ICO’s citing them as, "frequently associated with misleading or deceptive practices". Then, in March of that year, Google also announced a cryptocurrency ban that will go into effect in June across all of its platforms (YouTube, etc.). Furthermore, Snapchat, Twitter, and MailChimp also followed suit as well as Reddit banning cryptocurrency ads since 2016.
