AVAX, ETH, CETUS: A Snapshot of Crypto’s Shifting Landscape

Avalanche, also known as AVAX, is currently experiencing a remarkable surge in network activity that has caught the attention of the broader crypto community. Over the past week, the network has seen its fee revenue jump by 122 percent and transaction volume climb by 133% , according to recent analytics. This growth is not just a statistical blip but a clear sign that more users and developers are engaging with Avalanche. The network also added 1,200 new validators in just three hours, which points to an increasing level of decentralization and confidence among participants. Much of this momentum can be traced to the launch of new DeFi protocols, partnerships with gaming projects like MapleStory N and Pixelmon, and the popularity of social finance apps such as The Arena. The recent Etna upgrade has also made it easier and cheaper for developers to launch custom blockchains, which has further fueled interest. Despite these impressive on-chain metrics, the price of AVAX has not yet fully reflected the network’s underlying growth, suggesting that the market may be lagging behind the fundamentals. Many analysts believe that if Avalanche can maintain its current pace, it could be poised for a significant rally in the near future.

Meanwhile, Ethereum is facing a period of uncertainty and frustration. The Ethereum Foundation recently announced a restructuring of its protocol division and a renewed focus on scaling the main blockchain and expanding data availability. However, this announcement coincided with a massive sell-off, as more than 27 million ETH was dumped on the market, leading to a sharp price decline. This sell-off reflects broader concerns about Ethereum’s ability to keep up with faster and cheaper competitors. The recent Dencun upgrade made transactions on Layer 2 networks much cheaper, which encouraged users and projects to move away from the main Ethereum chain. While this has reduced congestion, it has also caused a steep drop in Layer 1 fee revenue, which is a critical part of Ethereum’s value proposition. As a result, some models now suggest that ETH is overvalued, and the lack of clear leadership and stable protocol economics is making institutional investors wary. The combination of technical uncertainty, leadership changes, and heavy whale selling has left Ethereum’s future direction in question.

In the DeFi space, Cetus Protocol has just relaunched after a major incident, offering a partial compensation plan to its users. The protocol reopened at 3 UTC, allowing users to claim 5 percent of their compensation tokens instantly at a price of $0.118, which is much lower than its all-time high of $0.487. The rest of the compensation will be unlocked gradually over the next year. The team has injected $7 million from its reserves and secured a $30 million loan from the Sui Foundation to help recover affected liquidity pools. This quick response has helped restore some confidence, but the token’s price remains well below previous highs, indicating that the recovery process will take time.

The crypto landscape this week is marked by sharp contrasts. Avalanche is thriving, with record network usage and developer activity, yet its price has not caught up to the fundamentals. Ethereum is struggling with internal challenges, technical changes, and market sell-offs that have shaken confidence in its future. Cetus, while still recovering from a setback, is demonstrating resilience through its compensation plan and liquidity recovery efforts. For investors and observers, Avalanche appears to be a potential breakout candidate, Ethereum requires caution as it navigates structural challenges, and Cetus serves as a case study in DeFi recovery and risk management.
