What should I do if BTC is dropping?

hello dear Publish0x readers!

few weeks ago I was writing about how to manage your trading portfolio on a Bitcoin trending course. Then, the BTC was around 17 500 $, went to 19 100, dropped to 16 600 and then up again to 19 600 $, very close to an ATH (All Time High) - which is 20 089 $, in 17 Dec 2017.

Looking at this chart, we can't believe how BTC, not an ordinary Altcoin, could be so volatile:

Indeed, I think, on long term, BTC is going up. Now, I'd rather wait for a retreat and then maybe entering again in it, BUT, now, we are arriving at the subject of this post:

what should I do if Bitcoin is falling?

Now, of, course, there are three scenarios:

- BTC up

- BTC sideways

- BTC down

BTC UP

this is not our main subject of the article, but I will mention it: if BTC is continuing to grow, the vast majority of Alts will keep the price in $ but will decrease vs BTC. if BTC will remain at that new level of price vs USD, then the Alts will start to grow. In this case, your pairing trade should be vs BTC. For example: XTZ:BTC, DOT:BTC. Why? because, if your Alt would decrease in BTC, at least you are protected vs USD and your portfolio would have the same value or bigger. If you will sell vs USD, you could miss the uptrend and your portfolio in Alts would decrease.

To be clear:

you have 100 XTZ. if you sell it with 2.5 $ and the BTC will grow or maybe even XTZ will, then you could buy less than 100 XTZ, but if you will sell in BTC, even if BTC will grow, it is possible than XTZ will decrease a little vs BTC and you could buy more than 100, your initial amount.

BTC SIDEWAYS

In this case, the most probable scenario is the rise of Altcoins and a nice, interesting game could start. Then, you should trade even in BTC or stablecoins, doesn't matter.

BTC DOWN

And this is what I think it could happen on short term: a decrease of BTC to 16600 $ or even more, to 15 000 or worse, to 13 500 $. If this is happening, be sure that your Alts, even if now are already bleeding, will look far worse than now. It could drop more than 50% in $ from this level. This happened in april - july 2019, when BTC grew and then felt and Alts kept their value in $ but lost it vs BTC and then, when the BTC felt, they lost their value in $. NIce coins, like GNT (Golem) lost value - from 2000 sats to 300 sats.

The solution could be going out in stablecoins and wait until BTC is calming. After that, enter again and you should have a nice growing portfolio in cryptos!

Conclusion:

Watch the trend. Don't be greed. Maybe keep a little gain than a big risk and the possibility to lose more. If the BTC is going down - get in stablecoins and later, buy some ALTs.
