If I Had to Start Crypto Again in 2026, I'd Ignore These 5 Things

By Jovial_David | Crypto Sensei | 2 Jun 2026

If I woke up tomorrow with zero crypto experience and had to start from scratch in 2026, I'd do many things differently.

Not because crypto has changed.

Because I have.

When you're new, everything feels important:

  • Every chart
  • Every prediction
  • Every "next big thing"

But experience has a way of simplifying things.

Here are five things I'd completely ignore if I were starting today.

1. Price Predictions

One of the first traps beginners fall into is believing predictions.

You'll hear:

  • Bitcoin to $500,000
  • Ethereum to $50,000
  • This token will 100x

Most of these predictions generate attention, not certainty.

I'd spend less time listening to forecasts and more time understanding fundamentals.

2. Social Media Hype

Crypto social media can be useful.

It can also be incredibly noisy.

When everyone is excited about the same opportunity, you're often seeing the story late.

I'd use social media for ideasβ€”not decisions.

3. Extremely High APYs

The younger version of me would've been impressed by massive yields.

Today?

The first question I'd ask is:

Where is the yield coming from?

High returns usually come with high risk.

That's not pessimism.

That's finance.

4. The Fear of Being Late

This is a big one.

Many beginners feel like they missed everything.

Bitcoin.
Ethereum.
DeFi.
NFTs.

The truth?

Crypto constantly creates new opportunities.

You don't need every opportunity.

You only need a few good decisions.

5. Looking Smart

This sounds strange, but it's important.

Many people enter crypto wanting to sound knowledgeable.

I would focus less on appearing smart and more on learning consistently.

The market rewards understanding.

It doesn't reward confidence alone.

What I'd Focus On Instead

If I were starting again, I'd spend most of my time on:

  • Security
  • Risk management
  • Wallets
  • Basic blockchain concepts
  • Patience

These skills survive every market cycle.

Final Thought

The biggest lesson crypto taught me wasn't how to make money.

It was how to filter noise.

The longer you're around crypto, the more you realize:

Success isn't about knowing everything.

It's about knowing what to ignore.
