The timing is coincidental as I’m not wont to make New Year’s resolution, but I’ve hit the 2024 ground running in my desire to make music on a constant basis. My productions ranging from fifteen-second reels of improvised guitar shred to complete songs with narrative music videos. Along with performing original songs, I’m also doing my take on beloved eighties hits. The first cover is of Madonna’s 1984 smash “Material Girl” and was a natural choice for me. Along with Madonna having impacted my development as a boy growing up in the 1980s, the guitar hook is something I always played during soundchecks back in the day. The song definitely isn’t suitable for my voice even after giving my version an arrangement drastically different from the original, but it was fun to do for the sheer audacity of it.
One of my objectives for recording songs and producing music videos is to capitalize on the value for value model. Making my music (along with short films and stories) available for all to experience. Those who enjoy my work may tip me in either USD or cryptocurrencies. Given how the more traditional music business models of sales and streaming ripoff artists to an insane degree, going the value for value route ensures my audiences that 100% of what they tip goes directly to me. As an unknown artist, I’m likely to earn more money for my music this way than if I had a record deal. And the great thing about crypto in this regard is that it allows listeners from throughout the world to tip me in mere seconds with ease.
I have a tipping page on my website that I link to in social media posts. YouTube won’t allow me to link to my website in video descriptions for some ridiculous reason, so I dusted off my old CoinTr.ee profile to work around this.
