Why Bitcoin is Just Getting Started

People always ask, "what will the future hold for bitcoin? Will I make money off it? Will it be widely adopted?" The thing is nobody really knows. But we can make our best guesses with the knowledge we possess now, and if take a look into technological advancements of the past, we can deduce that cryptocurrency is the next big technological advancement of the future. But why?

Take a look at the internet in the 90s. A lot of people wrote it off without thinking twice because it was something that was entirely unknown to the average user. As many believers as there were, that it would have a huge impact in the future, there were much more doubters, at a much higher ratio. You could probably find plenty of articles chalking the internet up to a "crock of bs, never to be used widely, just by nerds in their basements who haven't seen the sun in weeks." Yet now you'd be hard pressed to find one single person who doesn't use the internet daily (and probably much more frequently than they'd like to admit). Could cryptocurrency be taking a similar path?

The internet was around in the 80s but it was even less used than the 90s, when we had a surge of usage, especially towards the late 90s early 2000s, before it was what it is today. Cryptocurrency is taking the same usage curve. More & more people are using it, if you talked to your group of friends, a lot of them probably have heard of Bitcoin or maybe even have some. But does the average person know about it yet, much less own/use any? Probably not. The people that are here now would probably be considered "tech savvy" but many standards, which leads me to believe that we are early to this game & being early to the game gets you good seats, doesn't it? The financial systems of old are starting to build mistrust with the common person because money is easily printed out & just as easily loses its buying power, while Bitcoin seems to be gaining buying power year after year, especially against the weakening USD. Remember when Bitcoin costed $100? Probably not just like you don't remember the internet 5 years after it came out, but now look where we are.

You might look at the price out a Bitcoin & think "I can't afford this!" But it will only become more unaffordable in the future, as more people realize they are being duped & would rather control their money, would rather store their money in something that typically appreciates in value, and would rather not have to fully trust the gov't for their retirement plans. What is your retirement plan? I know what mine is- it's Bitcoin & some top alts that I believe in, fundamentally. Will you ever get rich overnight in the crypto space? Meh most likely not unless we get another December 2017 type pump. Which doesn't happen all that often. But can you put fiat into crypto & sleep soundly at night, knowing you control your finances, the banks aren't loaning out 90% of your money due to fractional reserve lending, and maybe expect to make some money long term. Yes! Skepticism is healthy, blind trust isn't. Being skeptical of the current system which works for the top 1% but fails the rest of us, is a completely natural (albeit down the rabbit hole) line of thinking.

Whoever Satoshi was at this point doesn't matter. What does matter is that he/she understood what was happening in the world when we bailed out all the greedy fat cat corporations during the last recession of 2008-09, better than anyone could have at the time, and created a system where you can opt out of the current system. That's why we are all here- we have collectively opted out. That's an excellent start. Say no to banks & gov'ts running every aspect of your life. Cryptocurrency allows for this. Bitcoin was never created to "make you money." It was created to save your money, store its value, & add a layer of anonymity to your life. Yeah you can track Bitcoin but you can't track who spent what & there are no names tied to addresses. That's the beauty of it. It contains enough traceability to function yet not enough to fail as a means to remain somewhat private & anonymous. Remember just because you have nothing to hide, doesn't mean you should be forced to have all your information out there.

So in 10 years from now when everyone is into Bitcoin, you can look back at these years & say "Yeah I was here. Yeah I was a believer & I never gave up sight of what drew me into this space in the first place. A general mistrust in the financial systems of old."
