I Put it Where? Keeping Track of Staked Asset Records

One of the ever-expanding problems people find themselves in, especially if very active across multiple platforms and even blockchains is keeping track of staked resources. If you do all your staking from one wallet, and you pay attention to your transaction records (like who the hell does that?!?), then it's fairly easy to remember what you put where. And, some wallets and chains even give you a reminder, such as in the case of temporary tokens for your liquidity pool staking for example. Unfortunately, other staking such as NFTs doesn't always work so easy. You actually have to remember which platform you left things on and where.

Spreadsheets, Baby!

One the easiest and most available tools is simply using a spreadsheet. Whether using an app on your computer or a cloud-based one like Googledocs Sheets, a basic spreadsheet can work as a pretty decent tracker in terms of reminding you what you put where and when. Simply make a sheet, add columns for dates, the platform name, assets and value if it applies, and copy/paste the platform link in if available. Boom, you now have tracking that literally links you to the location. You just need to remember your password or wallet used at the time for the given staking.

Of course, for those working on a mobile or phone and not interested in spreadsheets, simply keeping a note record of the same can work too. Name, asset, weblink and date can all be used as a single line on a note record saved on the phone and it has the same function. Most importantly, you've created a list of what you have and where for reminding when you forget stuff. And trust me, you will forget stuff.

Wallet Tracking

When doable, utilize integrated wallet tracking. Many wallets work directly with staking resources. This gives you the double-benefit of seeing the stake presence in your wallet and the related connection as well as where it is located. You don't have to kill yourself trying to remember; you see the staked asset right in your portfolio. Solflare for Solana is really good example of this, providing both direct SOL coin staking as well as tracking of Solana token staking with partners. You can see in my wallet below, I have tracking of staked BONK along with my regular holdings all in one place.

Writing Things Down

There is, of course, the old-fashioned method of writing things down in a regular journal. You can get some nice, leather-cover types at bookstores and similar, but the trick is to use them everyday for reference stuff. And, eventually, you fill them up and then need to figure out how to move all those scribbles to a new journal. However, for the handwriting types, this is part of the joy of keeping a reference journal anyways, even in the age of mobile tech.
