Coinbase - the irony behind the words

Coinbase - the irony behind the words

This is not really a cryptocurrency news, but kind of it is. In the online medium, wherever you look right now, there is a mention that Coinbase is redoing the infrastructure to prevent the outages during peak times. Yes, if you are trading using Coinbase, you know what i mean. Until now, everytime when BTC mainly jumped let's say 30%, or dropped in the similar way, Coinbase was magically stopping trades claiming the platform was overloaded and gave up. For many traders, this was the bane of their existence. Imagine, the market is on fire and you cannot sell or buy. This was one of the main reasons for people to stop using Coinbase. First was a surprise, second time a coincidence, third time is a given. I was moving funds in advance and kept only the HODL one on Coinbase.

Anyway, i am glad that they stop apologising and started to take action. Today, you need to be competitive or you die. Even if you are a billion dollar company. A couple of bad news and you are toast. Look at Ripple. It will take them few years to recover, if they recover, but let's not go there.

And then there is the incoming Coinbase IPO, and them being on shopping spree. I mean, literally their latest acquisition, Bison Trails is a company providing blockchain infrastructure solutions.

I will only say this. It was time to become competitive. You adapt or you die. The market is not forgetting easily.

As for me, in UK, i find more easier to use Binance to transfer money to my bank, with only £1.50 fees instead of $10-20 on Coinbase. They disappointed me too many times.

But today this is mentioned everywhere, as it is more of a meme theme. You kind of expect Coinbase to break and stop working during sudden moves of Bitcoin up or down. People take plans to deal with this now. It is a given.

Of course, if we were to be a bit pedantic, the technical stuff started in here:

What can i say, i am amused reading all this. But in the end, well done Coinbase. Keep doing 'the good work'.

Yours truly,
George
