Do you know this about Ethereum? ---> NO HARD CAP

By Ariman | Crypto_Life_Style | 4 Nov 2020

What that mean? No hard cap?

We all got used with the fact that, one day, there will be a total of 21 millions Bitcoin in circulation, and that this number will never change ( it can only lower, because of the lost wallet keys) . Miners will be doing their stuff to keep the network alive and they will be earning only transactions fees contained in each block. Most of the major coins like Dash, Litecoin, ChainLink ecc.ecc.. also have an upper limit to the total supply, which is also called an hard cap. Those numbers are intrinsic CONSTANTS of the respective blockchains, and cannot be changed without an hard fork.

I was believing that also Ethereum had this kind of limit logic imposed by the protocol itsefl, but actually NO. Miners block rewards had lowered, and will lower, following the table below:

But there is still no plan for the far future! Vitalik Buterin itself, one of the major Ethereum founderer, said he made a mistake: this hard cap should have been put by "hand" initially. He commented that he would like to introduce a hard cap around 144 Millions ETH ( he wished to put 120M, but it's too late, as you can see from the table, we are already too close to that value). His main motivation is that people prefer to hold, and to keep alive a network, when there is a price gain, and so a profit; to not put a hard cap means inflation, but may lead to higher diffusion and useage wordlwide. However, Vitalik claim that this inflation would discourage holders and miners in the long term.

So... let's see what will happen in the future, and if some official proposal will pop-up, which should give a pump to the Ethereum price of course ( investement is always risky, this is not an advice).

I whised to spread this fact to you, Publish0x community, because you may missed it ( I did ).  While I took a longer time studying the Bitcoin and Litecoin blockchain parameters, I didn't had time to fully understand Ethereum one.

I'm not an expert. But I hope you enjoyed reading this post! See you soon!
