Hello hello,
As a FreeCash user, I kept noticing this offer for MU Dark Epoch. I saw the trailer: the graphic was cool, the action fast-paced, it seemed one of many Diablo II's descendants.
Finally I downloaded it, started playing and ... it's not a game !
The most glaring issue with MU Dark Epoch is its reliance on full automation. From the moment you create your character and start your first quest, the game takes over:
- Auto‑combat is always on. I see no reason to play manual
- Quest navigation is fully guided and automated, the PG will make screenshots, will combat and will talk when needed, without any click
- Your character automatically runs into mobs and fights ( and mine is an archer !!!)
Strategically speaking, there is nothing to decide. Yes, at some point, you have to decide which skill to use but that's after level 120...
It's really brainless, the quests are automated. Click the next one and the PG will do it on its own. For the first 100/120 levels there is quite NOTHING to decide. Everything is guided or suggested.
The next issue is the managing. The previous point can be applied to other games, like RAID. A lot of automation? Yes! But in that case it was a managing game. Many characters, resource allocation, team to built etc... you had to use brain.
In MU there is no managing until the higher levels. You get enough resources to get everything you need (or better, to get what the system says you need) and steamroll quest after quest, level after level until you are near one of the few choice you can make: the class change.
After more than 100 levels you can finally decide which path your character is going to take between... TWO alternatives. In my case the muse elf can be based on Agility or Energy. Stop.
There is no real characterization. You get the items you get, most abilities and skill distribution are guided, your character can be of two types once you start your journey. At least for the first 190 levels, where I am now.
At some point, the resources become scarce so there is a bit of management, the same resources are used to upgrade items and buy skills etc... but again, it's not really challenging.
There is a bit of frustration sometimes... like when you need a specific gem to unlock a feature/item. I needed wings and had to farm for a couple days before receiving the right gem...
The only thing I like is the guild. I found an active guild of Russian/Estonian guys and there is a bit of interaction which I like. (Luckily, the game auto-translate from Cyrillic to English any chat). Game-wise an active guild is vital to grind without paying. Between support, revenge, extra quests etc... there is a lot more when your guild is active.
Without an active guild you are stuck to the pay-to-win route. There is no real farming after level 50. I tried to farm with a guild-team ( three ppl of the same guild get an extra 20% exp.) but even so the progress is incredibly slow that the only reason to farm is to get a bit, a small bit, of resources in gold/gems.
In short:
- no strategic decisions
- no tactical combat
- minimal resource management
- limited PG characterization
- pay to win or constant presence + active guild
- nice graphics
- no ads
to be honest I'm somewhat happy with the way the game is built. It permits me to dedicate very few clicks to it, allowing to do my chores meanwhile. I made crepes for breakfast while my PG completed all 20 quests with just 2 clicks.
It's just... it's not a game, at least not the type of game you expect. If you have no economical incentive to play it... expect a simplified idle game.
Just my feelings.
Regarding FreeCash offer: really hard if you do not invest some dollars, if you miss a day you will lose even normal rewards.
Thank you and stay safe !
Best regards from Italy,
