Where cryptocurrency can lead us will be liberating. Imagine a world where you don't need to go through a middle man to work, to be lent money by a friend, or even a world where no one else needs to know why you deserve to be paid. Privacy and anonymity would be upheld as a fundamental right for every single individual, regardless of who they once were, who they currently are, or what their goals are.
We currently live in an era in which we need to have our presence as employees known to the world, images of our newly hired employees are uploaded to social media so they better be maintaining themselves in their personal life just as they would in their professional life. What all of us are nowadays are brands to uphold. This is the symptom of being "successful" nowadays, all of us are nothing more than brands that have to be molded to meet the criteria that is success in the developed world.
However, with cryptocurrency that could change. Think to the previous paragraph, who of all people is able to engage in what we consider to be success? Only those who have an absolutely clean record, no controversies, and above all they have to be able to work in the country of their employer so that they can be taxed or taken account of appropriately. We're all on the "grid" so to speak. If you want to make a living you have to be known, you have to fit in, you have to be perfect. On the path to success there's no room for mistakes, there's no room for character, and sooner or later there won't be any room for individuality.

Where does having to be on the "grid" leave everyone else? Those who made mistakes in their past, those who don't fit in, those who are being stalked, or even those who are simply not in the country they reside in completely legally. Those people who may have a harder time fitting into what it means to be "successful" (as it is defined nowadays) are left astray. An ex-con can only hope to get a well paying and prestigious job, it is not that people at an individual level dislike this ex-con but it is that their company's brand is going to be tainted by hiring an ex-con. An illegal immigrant may try to work as hard as possible to be successful while still abiding by the rules and yet it may amount to nothing because they simply cannot work unless they take the risk of forging documents or taking another identity.
What good is this path to success if it weeds out those among us who are fundamentally flawed? In my previous paragraph, the ex-con and the illegal immigrant would likely have to engage in more illegal activity to make ends meet. You may be thinking that they need to own up for their mistakes or transgressions at this point, so I'll throw another example your way: Imagine a freshly graduated student, they're done with school so they feel ready to tackle the world and get their career started. Yet this recent graduate can't find a job, after their family helped him through school, this student simply can't find a job so that they can provide for their family. Every job this recent graduate finds requires more experience than he could possibly have, yet all of these jobs in spite of requiring so much experience for an entry level position only pay a frivolous wage that they could get working at a job that doesn't even require an education. This graduate is now forced to work low-paying jobs just so that they can eventually meet the criteria of having had experience in their field.

This is where cryptocurrency can step in. I imagine a world where it doesn't matter who you were in your past, who you currently are, and it most definitely wouldn't matter if you're "qualified" on paper; the only thing that would matter in this world is how well you work. For this to be attainable it would have to be a fully digital world. Our personal identities would be completely separate from our professional ones; we would work as our new identities or usernames with the only other associations to it being our wallet-addresses so that we can be paid and examples of our work. Of course a platform would need to be formed for this to be possible as well as a system that flags users or identities who don't compensate others or don't fulfill their obligations. Eventually however, all of our experience and/or examples of our work would exist separate from our personal identities.

However if such a system could exist, none of us would need to worry about our personal lives ever affecting our professional lives. We could be liberated from the shackles of societal expectations, we could be liberated from our mistakes, we could be liberated from our circumstances, we could truly be free. Who we are shouldn't be infringed upon simply because we need to make a living. Our personalities as individuals shouldn't be restricted just so we can fit in. Having a source of income shouldn't mandate that an individual needs to be present in the mainstream to some extent. As it currently stands, if you want to exist beyond the reach of the mainstream you're likely engaging in some kind of criminal activity and if you're not, everyone else thinks you are. Anonymity and privacy in today's world is looked down upon, I imagine a world where both are incorporated at a fundamental level to protect the freedoms and rights of the individual. This world would ensure that we can retain our humanity and individuality without needing to comply to unrealistic, overtly moral societal standards that plague our present reality.
