As the Web3 community grows, it's not surprising to see many traditional Web1 & Web2 alternatives start to pop up along the way. Recently, I've found two different free Web3 platforms that crypto and Web3 enthusiasts might be interested in checking out.

What is Web3 Email?
Web3 email addresses are created by linking your crypto wallet to your provider of choice - simply sign up or log in with your MetaMask or other supported wallet. Web3 email providers offer decentralized, anonymous and encrypted email service for it's users. Your email address will generally be your wallet address followed by the Web3 email domain you're using, but some services offer opportunities for users to create and/or buy customized email addresses as NFTs to attach to your account for use.
Ethermail
Ethermail is the first Web3 email service I tested. In addition to the general perks offered by Web3 email usage mentioned above, Ethermail also enables users to earn EMC points (the platform's current utility token) in a variety of ways, including by signing up and reading newsletters from various companies utilizing the service. Users are fully in control of which companies they'd like to subscribe to (I keep an eye on Ethermail's Twitter account to see what new companies are partnering with the service) - and I have to admit, it's nice to be paid to see advertisements rather than having that revenue all go to the platform as is customary in most Web2 services. EMC points will eventually be able to be converted into $EMT tokens once they launch.
I recently did a more extensive article on Ethermail and it's opportunities and benefits, including the potential for Web3, crypto, and other platforms to reach users who have interacted with their token, NFT or platform - all while maintaining anonymity. The digital marketer in me is really excited about the potential for this new targeted-without-tracking marketing option!
Dmail
Dmail is another recent addition in the Web3 email space. They recently opened up their platform for creation of free accounts and addresses using your full wallet address, much like Ethermail. However, Dmail is also currently offering the free creation of email addresses that are eight digits or longer (shorter handles have various costs based on their length.) Pro-tip: While the addresses are free, you still need to pay a gas fee for minting - switch from Ethereum (the default) to Polygon. The difference was about $1.30 versus $0.01 when I minted my address.
Dmail also offers a variety of ways for users to earn points on their platform, such as through referrals, sending emails to different types of accounts (Web2 vs. Web3) as well as sending on different chains. These points can be applied to your account for additional perks based on the plan level you reach, such as increased daily email limits and storage space.
Summary
Are you using any Web3 email services? What are the aspects and perks that you most enjoy - or are looking forward to - that these types of platforms offer users? I'd love to hear your experiences and thoughts on the matter in the comments below!
