What would it be like if a given choice could reveal the consequences of a distant future? What would it be like if all people focused only on money and material goods? Well, in a way fortunately there were and there are people with the intention of revolutionizing thoughts and all ideals to live in a better world and worthy of true decentralization. Therefore, not everyone is interested in governing large companies or large empires that represent themselves through institutions. We must understand that the world of crypto emerged to decentralize and provide equality in the sense of freedom of expression, search and freedom from censorship. My intention with this article is to make you reflect on your interests and how they can help or damage decentralization. However, we must understand that alone we don't have the strength to change but that together we can reach unimaginable heights(it's worth reflecting).
In the abstract practice of my writing in this article I will write about the essence of Namecoin and how the choices of revolutionaries resulted in forgetfulness and fear of associating with this project for the simple fact of clashing with greedy interests of controllers and manipulators on the internet.
A Dinosaur alive and worthy of being studied...
A fact that cannot be forgotten is that Namecoin is a dinosaur that was the first Bitcoin fork with an ultra innovative proposal at the time that caused great repecursions and that is still something that should be considered. Its team was formed and still is formed by revolutionary students in the sense of seeking freedom when it comes to crypto. In practice its essence boils down to the decentralization of the internet where everyone can have access to information at all levels, without the need for third party government. The big news that caused repercussions at the time was that it provided the implementation of mining combined with a decentralized DNS.
What is DNS and what does it mean?
To be practical and without taking too much time, the DNS can be considered as the Internet phone book, i.e. the server that gives you a number that encodes your location. In a way this is very interesting but unfortunately these servers are controlled by governments or corporate giants that can shape, censor and use the information that this number provides. In other words there is an intermediary that controls these numbers and dictates the rules of the internet.
The birth of the Namecoin project emerged with the aim of providing security, privacy and freedom of expression, which brought great possibilities that would go beyond the basic proposals of Bitcoin. Including Satoshi Nakamoto himself contributed to the Namecoin project, along with Zooko Co-founder of Zcash and Theymos Administrator of the Bitcointalk Forum.

Among the boldest participants in the project was Aaron Swartz who brought up the Nakanames proposal in 2011, which was later implemented as Namecoin. Co-Founder of Reddit and had the personal mission of alerting and proposing new ideas for a decentralized internet free of government regulation and censorship. His fight boiled down to the possibility of large technology companies controlling the internet, where they could not only restrict, but also moderate what people consume on the network. Unfortunately Swartz was found dead at the age of 26(Suicide/January 2013) after leading a dispute for the free circulation of academic articles against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT).
What can we interpret so far?
We can conclude that institutions as academic, economic and media forces control the world and control what we will read and absorb in today's society.
Now I ask you: How much information is being hidden? How many healing possibilities, energetic alternatives that could change the world and that unfortunately do not go beyond academic censorship? There are many questions to be asked but one thing is clear that cryptocurrencies were born to transcend this paradigm and that great projects like Bitcoin and Namecoin emerged to help humanity in its freedom decisions.
Choice and challenge for Namecoin...
By choosing to go against the current paradigm that boils down to control, the Namecoin project doesn't hold much investment due to the large wave of interest and market manipulation. In other words Namecoin is not the most desired project on the market because it doesn't add to the current system and on the contrary was born to break all that and show a true and worthy internet for decentralization. However, analyzing the current moment and the Namecoin project, we can consider that it's the precursor of Web3 where the principles are summarized with the ideals of Namecoin, that's right my friend, the creators and developers created a long time ago the basis of what would be the famous Web3 which is still in development and intends to reach the whole world.
The current and future challenge is to receive all recognition in the freedom segment that will still be well seen in a not too distant moment.

Being an article of reflection, I would like you to try to know more about the project and how it will be able to change the world in a real way. There is a lot of information about Namecoin that varies from technical information to debate information and all for the benefit and criticism of the same. I believe that the criticisms are necessary because they serve as balance and push for the reality or true purpose of a project. Namecoin is no different and, on the contrary, it suffers heavy criticism today and even after its history and many years, it continues to be despised.
