Everyone knows they should use a stop-loss.
Everyone knows they shouldn’t trade emotionally.
But the market hits you exactly where you think,
“This time is different.”
Imagine you buy Bitcoin around $76,300.
Based on your analysis, the scenario is invalid below $74,800.
Your risk is clear: about $1,500.
This is where real risk management starts — not after.
Price drops to $75,000.
Your mind whispers:
“Just give it a little more room… it’ll bounce.”
You move your stop lower.
Here, neither the analysis changed nor the market —
only your rule did.
A few minutes later, price hits $74,500.
Now the loss is bigger, the stress is heavier,
and your next move is no longer a decision —
it’s a reaction.
Risk management means:
before entering, you know exactly
where you’re wrong,
and you’re willing to accept it right there.
Not this:
moving your stop “just this once”
increasing size to make the loss back
entering trades without a clear invalidation point
The market doesn’t beat your analysis;
it beats your lack of discipline after entry.
To keep market psychology from controlling you:
define risk before emotions show up
trade with a size that doesn’t disturb your sleep
follow rules you wrote in calm, not in fear
(If you don’t fully understand risk management yet, don’t worry —
follow me. I’ll teach it step by step in upcoming parts.)
Most traders don’t lose because they don’t know enough;
they lose because they break their own rules.
👉 In the next part, we’ll cover simple but critical mental rules
that prevent emotions from hijacking your trades.
❓Which rule do you break most often?
💬 Tell me in the comments — I’d love to read your experience.
Your support, even a small one, strengthens my motivation to keep writing.
