Since its initial release to 10,000 Beta testers (which I am one of), the Robinhood wallet has come quite a long way, and it has not even been 3 whole months yet. The beginning was pretty plain and simple which did make a ton of sense as they were launching a brand-new project. Now every week the Robinhood Team through APple's Testflight program releases an update that either adds additional functionality or fixes a few issues that have arisen. So without further ado here are the big changes that have come to the DApp.

Massive Swap Expansion

Built on the Polygon Blockchain the initial release only had 20 different cryptos that you could exchange for. Now almost 10 weeks later this has expanded to over 50! Is that number the best? No, it is far from it but looking at what they are doing and who they are, a publically traded American company, it is an incredible endeavor. The swap functionality is powered via the Polygon agitator 0x and for many of the cryptos is completely feeless!

Robinhood though is not only just focusing on adding additional cryptos like I have seen some projects pivot to. Rather they are taking into consideration the reports that they are getting back from the users and we can see the very issues we have flagged get addressed. A pretty big example of this is its further refinement with the way that quotes are brought up and addressed. When you pull up a quote for a price swap now and there has been either a big price change (more than 5%) or the quote has fallen out of sync Robinhood now brings this to your attention to make sure you want to execute the transaction.  

Functionality

Robinhood has not shied away from what it hopes this app will become in the crypto space. Throughout this Beta test people have found issues with accessing certain DApps and Robhinhoods team has been extremely quick to identify, isolate, and solve these issues sending out fixes almost as fast as they are flagged. In areas where newbies could get confused or struggle Robinhood has worked to simplify the user interface and has changed the recovery key size from 24 words to 12 words. I know that some people will say that by doing that they are making it less secure and of course, there is a trade-off but currently, there is not a big enough difference, in my opinion, to double the words one needs to write down. 

These things were all fine and dandy but there is one thing that we all know the crypto world was going to require from Robinhood before this app could ever have its public debut and finally, it has been addressed.

NFTs

Last night the NFT update finally came and with it what I would call the first phase of this stage was rolled out. While the ability to buy and sell NFTs was not part of it an NFT manager was added. This allows users to view, explore, and now manage the visibility of NFT collections on Polygon. It will be interesting to see if and when they add the ability to buy and sell NFTs as the Polygon Blockchain is number three or four depending on the news outlet when it comes to NFT development activity. If you were wondering the space is still led by Ethereum and Solana with either Polygon or Binance being third/fourth. 

Since NFTs are the subject to a variety of lawsuits due to the price fall behind them I could see where Robinhood would want to limit its exposure in this area to stay on the good side of regulators. If there is some clarity brought about in the area I would expect to see them adjust accordingly but right now taking the safer path would be the better business move. Hopefully that legislation comes in the first half of next year it will just depend on the economic and political situation come then.
