Mark Cuban Continueing his Ethereum Drive

By Cje95 | Chronic Illness and Crypto | 26 May 2021

Not too long ago, Mark Cuban announced his love for Ethereum and his investment in the crypto. Since then he has been pouring money into Ethereum based DApps and NFT platforms in particular. Now he has announced that he has added a layer two solution to his ever-growing investments in the crypto/blockchain realm.

Cuban has invested in Polygon now the Layer 2 solution. Polygon was initially called MATIC which was then rebranded into Polygon. An interesting thing about Polygon is that it was initially founded in India a country that now has been putting up massive walls against the very idea of what Polygon is. As one of the first layer two solutions out there Polygon has a track record that new can match with its adaptation and growth. Further, it has taken the path of utilizing a single blockchain but having multiple scaling solutions something I find rather interesting.

Cuban has declined to say how much his investment was or how much MATIC he owns but he has confirmed that he has invested as has the Polygon team. While Ethereum 2.0 could eventually compete with the layer two solutions that Polygon is using it could take years for 2.0 to fully roll out. This has put Polygon back in the eyes of crypto investors as it is rapidly growing and expanding into a variety of things. Coinbase even has added Polygon and even better has added it to its Earn platform where you can earn up to $3 of Polygon!

While some may not be exactly happy with billionaires investing in projects like Cuban has I consider this to be a good thing that gives the blockchain credibility. It also gives the development team the resources they may need to speed up the development. Instead of developers having to do other things to make ends meet they are able to not only focus on this project but also expand the coder teams as they need.
