A couple of days ago I talked about the new Zerogoki farms that were launched on Harvest Finance. Wanting to take part in them yesterday I purchased my REI and wrapped my ETH to deposit in the REI-ETH farm. By the time I had gotten to it the gas fees had gone through the roof.... I mean worse then at the height of DeFi last year bad.
This wasn't even the worst attempt as at one point I did get one that was over 2.5 ETH! Knowing that gas prices improve at night/early in the morning for me in the US I woke up at 3 AM and decided after getting some water I would try again and see if the price was even slightly reasonable.
It was then when I tried again that I realized something else was wrong. While it was still expensive when it would get to a suitable amount for myself I would authorize it. One time it went through however it ended up failing. Puzzled that this occured I tried it again and began to get a new response one I have never seen from MetaMask before.
Transaction Error. Exception thrown in contract code.
A little concerned I snooped around and found on MetaMasks help page that this means that there is an issue that is not on my end or MetaMasks but rather an issue with the contract/vault. To get a clearer picture I hoped onto the Harvest Discord and after asking some questions sending some screenshots and waiting I was informed that it was an issue on Uniswaps side of things. The ETH pairing is not properly functioning and actually states that there is $0 ETH locked in the LP which should not be the case at all.
This is throwing the pool out of range and thus the smart contract and so it cannot be executed. DUE TO THIS DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEPOSIT OR AUTHORIZE FOR THE REI-ETH OR REI-WBTC POOLS UNTIL THIS IS STRAIGHTENED OUT! The Devs have been made aware of the issue and are investigating it to see what can be done but as it stands right now if you force your deposit it will jsut burn your gas and result in you getting nothing out of it.
This goes to show that both you and I need to always pay attention when the APY's seem to good to be true! While I have never had this issue on Harvest before and the community and team where quick to respond and help me out those who are not part of the Discord Server need to be made aware of this before you end up burning ETH for nothing in return!
