One thing that has been rampant in the crypto industry since it kicked off and started to gain attention has been these companies forming with big bold plans only to burn through the money and collapse. Yes, scams and rug pulls have also been an issue but those are criminal activities as opposed to other companies just flat-out failing to deliver a product at the end of the day. 

Besides scams and rug pulls the biggest issue many crypto projects run into is over-promising and under-delivering. We see this same thing happen in the traditional market as well with Tesla and Elon being a prime examples of setting timetables that are just not possible. When Robinhood announced last year a pivot from being centered on the U.S. markets to becoming a global power I was pretty skeptical. Previously, their efforts to expand offerings had fallen flat or had been pulled from the market so it was an ambitious thing for them to try.

I was pretty excited when I was one of 10,000 chosen to beta test their new wallet and boy oh boy was the first product bare. There were a handful of tokens on the Polygon chain that you could transact in but for the most part, there was not much to do. Over the following weeks though they slowly added more and more until they even added some Ethereum support. Then much to my surprise on March 1st they announced that the wallet was going live to all iOS users GLOBALLY!

Naturally, this was a huge move on Robinhood's behalf and differs from what other crypto companies have done like FTX by having an established business that is on sound footing. The crypto markets are known to be volatile so Robinhood being in the traditional finance area they are much better served to survive the ups and the downs! Arguably the biggest thing is that this is not something with a waitlist or an invitation code like has grown more commonplace in the crypto space! If you aren't blown away by that then maybe the fact that users can swap crypto and tokens with no network fees on Polygoon is what does it for you!

Robinhood is also running an offer with this launch that allows users to further build a little bit of an incentive. Even with this release though they are not done as they are looking to add Android support later this year, in the meantime Android users can join the waitlist. In the following months as well they will be adding a Web3 browser, additional support for other coins, and expanding their in-app rewards program! Since the beta launch in September, this app has come a long long way and continues to push forward. I never imagined a centralized platform like Robinhood actually turning over full control to users. Robinhood's wallet gives the USERS their private keys to hold and maintain something you just do not see with other platforms like this. Honestly, I cannot wait to see what is next as they continue building out this platform.
