At long last Candy Digitals Market Place went live! Now that is not to say it wasn’t without some last-minute changes or issues with it. A couple of hours before the launch a lot of people found out that if you sold an NFT in the marketplace you would not be able to immediately use those funds to buy another. Instead, there was a 7 day waiting period after the sale. This meant that all of the sales were having to be done via credit card since buying and selling in crypto is not yet available.
The launch of the marketplace was done in a rolling fashion which made sense so that the system was able to handle it and off the bat prices were all over the place! Some NFTs were selling for $15 when they cost $25 to buy and others were selling for thousands when they were not even the rarest of rare! It was wild to follow along with and Candy themselves tweeted out updates on the largest sales and if sets were completed. Over the first 8 hours over $1 million in sales transpired on the site! While this might be small in the crypto world remember this wasn't available on OpenSea or LooksRare it was only through Candy's website.
Candy kept users updated throughout the day via their tweeter about huge sales and important 1 of 1 pulls many of which have still not happened! Here were the tops sales from day One! Notice how users did not care about the value as premiums were put on the first card in a series but also if the number correlated with the number worn by the player!
I personally have listed a few items at price I would be comfortable letting the NFTs go at. What was great from an investment standpoint was that I am net up quite a bit so far! Two people also completed their sets which are one of every player (81 total) regardless of the rarity. There will be a reward for this later on at a to be decided date. A big thing being talked about on the Discord is how low the price is for the Play of the Day NFTs as many of them are being sold for just a little bit above retail's price, unlike the packs which have a floor of $615 at last check.
Packs should continue to carry a high premium due to the amount of Legendary 1 of 1 NFTs that still have been pulled from packs! I have enjoyed seeing these developments come to fruition and seeing how even MLB players are getting involved in the action! Having the player support is huge and will further entice fans to get into the NFT world as they are able to engage with the players!
