- My name is Chris and I came here via a rabbit hole.
But isn't that always the way things go on the internet, or when you take magic mushrooms?
What happened was that I was on Twitter because of a link in Discord and saw this thread. In that thread I found this statement:

Now, as my profile states, Whaleshares is my passion. I couldn't have someone slandering my baby, could I?
Sure I could. As I explained to people in the Whaleshares official discord, if somebody joined Whaleshares at the start and got scammed and then left, never to return, I'm sure they would think that. I would.
The fact remains that there were some pretty scammy pieces of shit on there at the start and right up until HF4 when we went to a tipping system instead of a voting system. I'm sure there are still people trying to figure out how they can scam the system right now but because of the low amount of users and token value, I think most have moved on to bigger and better scams.
It's human nature, isn't it? Sadly, that seems to be the way the world is nowadays. Mostly.
While Scott was right about his experience a year ago on Whaleshares, he is not right anymore. It has come a long way in the 1+ years since it forked from Steem. We tried to explain it to him but he only seems to care about what happened then and not what is happening now. That's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
The good thing is that he led me to Minds.com, which is a total right-wing shitshow but from Minds.com I wound up here.
This place seems way cooler.
So here I am. This is my first interaction with the Ethereum blockchain unless BAT counts. I got something called a metamask and am now looking into getting a hardware wallet I guess. I don't know. I have been on Steemit for a year and a half and Whaleshares for over a year but don't know much about other cryptos really. I tried EOS and a few sidechains but had trouble playing games and shit because of RAM and staking limitations so I sold it all and bought WLS. It was a great time to buy as it was at about $.002USD and I was able to get a few hundred thousand tokens with my Steem and EOS holdings.
As for me, I am a 47 or 48-year-old road maintenance worker in northern BC, Canada that likes to write and learn about cool things on and offline. My wife and I have a mini homestead on a tiny city lot with chickens, composting worms, and the start of a small permaculture yard. We do videos usually every weekday on YouTube live but don't often get many folks stopping in. We were doing them on Twitch but if we weren't having trouble streaming, others were having trouble watching so we switched to YouTube and it seems to be way better.
On Whaleshares we have a few pods. One is for posting mental health related posts, I have an atheism pod, and we are just starting a pod for comedy writers. We also have a translation pod for people who need help getting their posts translated into English. I am really loving the format and even though it has many of the same quirks as any crypto platform, it is getting easier for people off the street to get in and get posting.
My wife and I also do a lot of mental health videos that deal with things we go through in our day to day lives. Here is one of my favourites.
Well, that's me. If it's okay, I may pull some posts that I like from my blog at www.changethetopic.com. I don't know what the consensus is on that but I will keep looking.
