By Xethylirin | Chess PGN | 26 Apr 2021

Here we see Smith-Morra Gambit accepted line where white is prepared to sacrifice as many pieces as possible to capture opponent's Queen.

Key points:  tempo, loose pieces, pins, endgame potential

Opponent resigns realizing black is forced to exchange Queen for rook. However I went a little further with my own analysis and finished the game against the computer with rating between 2900 (supergrandmaster) and 3200 (max). As it turns out, black may have been able to turn things around as white would've had to play very sharp to maintain the advantage. In one variation it's white Queen, rook, knight against 2 rooks, knight, and bishop. This line ends up in a theoretical draw if it's bishop/rook against Queen, and if white isn't careful Queen will be forced to perpetual or trade with rook. Another line is white Queen, knight against black rook and knight. If white is careless then Queen against rook/knight and black knight has opportunities to gain advantage with check forking Queen and king.

I hope you found this game valuable.
