The Greek gift sacrifice is characterized by Bishop sacrifice on h7 or h2 if colors reversed. Usually seen in coffee house or blitz chess, it leads to an attack on the exposed enemy king. Sometimes the sacrifice doesn't work but it's exciting to game and imagine for a while that you're Mikhail Tal.
The above position was from my game on lichess.org. The game started with 1. d4 e6 { A40 Horwitz Defense } 2. Bf4 d5 3. e3 Nf6 4. Nf3 c5 5. c3 Nc6 6. Nbd2 Be7 7. Bd3 O-O 8. h4 White declares his intention to attack Black's castled position.
The game continued 8. ...cxd4 9. exd4 Re8 10. Ne5 Nxe5 11. dxe5 Nd7 The position is begging for the Greek sacrifice. The alternative [12. Qh5 f5] will lead to a dull game.
No time to calculate, I just played it by instinct. 12. Bxh7+ Kxh7 13. Qh5+ Kg8 14. Nf3 g6 15. Qh6?? a blunder 15. Qg4 is the correct continuation.
The game continued 15....Bf8 16. Qg5 Be7??
Black made a mistake of his own. [16....Qxg5 17. hxg5 Bg7] is winning. 17. Qg4 Bf8 18. Ng5 Bg7 19. h5 Qc7 20. hxg6 Nxe5 21. Qh3 Nd3+
White is already winning 22. Qxd3 Qxf4 23. gxf7+ Kf8 24. fxe8=Q+ Kxe8 25. Qg6+ Kf8 26. Rh3
After the wild sacrifice, a quiet move, rook lift ends the game. 26. ...Bd7 27. Rf3 { Black resigns. } 1-0
