The United Kingdom plans to introduce a digital pound, which has gained interest from cryptocurrency companies and lobbying groups.

However, there is an opinion that this currency should be interoperable with cryptocurrencies to be more future-proof.

The Bank of England proposes a platform model where private companies can provide wallets and integrate with the infrastructure of the digital pound.

In response to the government's plans, concerns arise regarding user privacy and the adequacy of holding limits for the central bank's digital currency. There is also a proposal for the digital pound to collaborate with cryptocurrencies through the use of smart contracts.
