Whenever a news/media outlet quotes a politician or a politically relevant figure, especially if it's a controversial one, I always double-check.
As a result, I've watched hours of footage of what Harris, Trump, Musk, Biden etc actually SAID.
And nine times out of 10, they didn't say what the media said they said.
I'm saying this because Tesla is now worth over $1 trillion, because Tesla share price shot up after Trump's win. And people think Musk and Trump are at odds when it comes to EVs, but actually they're not.
If people listened to what they actually said, not what the media said they said, they would realise they both say the same thing: people will buy what they want, get rid of all incentives.
Trump made it clear oil is his priority, but he said if people want to buy EVs they can.
Musk runs Tesla, but he's said, on so many occasions, that he doesn't care/need/want tax credits, incentives etc.
You can find so many interviews where he says "get rid of all tax incentives" including for chargers.
In an interview, he said "incentives for chargers are totally unnecessary, do we need incentives for gas stations? No. So why for chargers?"
On another occasion, during the famous New York Times interview where he told people who blackmail with advertising (=mostly Disney) to "go f**l yourself", he said people will buy EVs if you make them "compelling".
"If you make EVs compelling, people will buy them. No doubt about that. The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car in the world in 2023," he said.
I know so many people just hate Trump and Musk, I totally get it.
And people are free and welcome to. But we should criticise them for what they say, and they say plenty of stuff that's criticisable, not for what media outlets that are absolutely doomed and would be dead without subsidies say.
