It was March, 2020 and the managing partner hinted that I may need to find another job...soon. But I only started a few months ago! My resume? My family? What am I going to do now?? I have always desperately needed to be a W-2 employee. I needed that cushion or my anxiety would overwhelm me.
Fast forward to now. I literally just finished a due diligence project and, for the first time in my working life, I don't have a regular income. I couldn't be happier. I actually have never been busier, but I am happy being busy now. My passion has always been to help people, but I really wasn't in a position to do that until now. I didn't want to help by being that go-to lawyer who could give you a decent billable rate. I wanted to just use what I have to offer at this stage in my life to try and help as many people as possible.
Now, I want to be very clear about one point - I did not come from a wealthy family. I was 1 of 4 kids to a pediatrician and my mom helped as office manager. I started my first job out of law school making $42,000 year and it was fantastic! My first bonus was $300 and I couldn't have been happier. Point is - I didn't come from too much (but I definitely had a leg up compared to many), but I worked very hard to get to where I am now.
Now - I want to help people try and achieve some financial freedom. That's it. If you had just a little more money, would it make certain parts of life easier? If we can achieve a little bit of financial freedom, then we can be self-empowered to take on the world. Self-empowerment can absolutely change the way you both look and approach the world.
Anyhow...I need to pay bills too so happy to try things out on a pay what you can afford basis. Let's see if we can help each other out (feel free to check me out on LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/in/michaelcarlson0822 - or shoot me an email at old school email - [email protected]
Have a great day and live your best life!!
Michael
(I do not offer financial advice by any stretch. I am just a resourceful lawyer who enjoys reading and studying the markets. I invest in everything I ever discuss so can free free to take my advice or leave it. I just want to help!)
