Class D, or “disposables,” is a group of Foundation “employees” that is a little different from other classes. While the others are made up of scientists, soldiers and other professionals, the D class is made up almost exclusively of criminals, death row inmates, serial killers, and, of course, former employees who ended up leaving the staff in a somewhat different way. how tragic.
As the name implies, Class D employees are completely disposable, and can be used in all kinds of experiences without being considered a "human loss", so much so that, in SCP's with high risk potential, they are used even in simplest possible tests, as well as in manipulation and containment of objects that can or almost always cause human loss, such as SCP-106, which requires the disposal of a human.
Hiring
![]()
To carry out the “hiring” of class D employees, it is very simple. Do you know death row in the United States and other countries that have the death penalty? Well, an employee appears who gives the employee a document describing a supposed alternative to death penalty, where the criminal would exchange a certain death penalty for a period of 30 days as an employee of the SCP Foundation, and then, if he survived, released in some random city with amnesiacs. Of course that's a reasonable proposition, you're trading certain death for a chance to make it out alive, aren't you?
But the truth is that there is no concrete report about any D-class employee who actually left the Foundation. There are reports of class D employees who, on merit, ended up being promoted (with reservations), but there is no report of a class D employee who was released by the Foundation, whether with or without amnesiacs.
What is believed is that, due to the difficulty of obtaining new class D employees, at the end of the 30 days of the contract, the employees have their contract renewed compulsorily, being eliminated in case of refusal.
There is also another way for you to become a D class: INCOMPETENCE. Should you take immoral, unethical, or downright disastrous action as an employee of the SCP Foundation, you may be “promoted” to Class D, depending on the severity.
Treatment
Class D employees receive at least 3 (three) daily balanced meals, and can choose to eat or not eat certain products based on personal taste, as well as avoid items that can cause allergic crises, such as peanuts. They also receive medication for continuous use for their eventual illnesses, such as antidepressants or treatment for AIDS, all in order to guarantee the best possible performance during their use by the other employees.
Information
The maximum information that a Class D employee will receive is what is necessary to be able to fulfill his/her function. If he has to deal with SCP-173, for example, the responsible employee will issue instructions similar to this:
Don't take your eyes off him for even a second, don't blink at the same time, and don't let anything get in your sight or distract you. If the object is not being observed, it will move towards you and break your necks.
Meanwhile, the employee will omit other information that may be relevant, such as the mixture of blood and feces that accumulates in the room, the material that the sculpture is made of or even technical details about the containment of the structure, after all, it makes no sense to fill in the head of a D-class with information that can cause big problems if it falls into the wrong hands, right?
Human rights
![]()
There are serious allegations of human rights violations against class D employees within the foundation, including surgeries without anesthesia and all kinds of heinous experiments including handling highly dangerous objects without using any type of protection and staying for long periods of time. in unhealthy environments. Interestingly, most violation reports come from organizations that act as or even more unethical than the Foundation, such as Insurgencia do Chaos, so caution is advised with this information.
On the other hand, it is impossible to contain certain objects without serious violations of human rights, such as SCP-106, which is lured into the holding cell by a violent blow to the femur and thigh bones with the aim of generating enormous pain, and subsequent sacrifice of one or more D-class employees, then the simple act of hiding data regarding such procedures by the SCP Foundation can be considered even logical, as well as the possession of a certain group of human beings that are not endowed with human rights, ethics or other such things.
Alternatives
The Foundation is actively seeking an alternative to disposing of Class D employees. Does this have some benevolent motive, such as preserving human life? Of course. The real reason for this is that a Class D employee is extremely expensive, including clothing, food, ongoing medication, medical treatment, cell, documentation, transportation and disposal. All of this comes at a cost, and it's not cheap at all.
Instances of SCP-3008-2
IKEA Infinite, or SCP-3008-1, is inhabited by humanoid creatures devoid of consciousness but capable of complex actions, and for that reason are considered as possible alternatives for the disposal of Class D personnel. The big problem with these individuals is that, in addition to being difficult to obtain and control, they also become extremely violent at night. Obtaining instances of SCP-3008-2 is also difficult, as it requires them to head out of infinite IKEA on their own (something much more difficult than it sounds.
So, at least for now, this option is unusable.
SCP-3000 - Deus Ex Machina
Another possibility would be to use the Deus Ex Machina to create artificial humans. Right off the bat we can rule out this possibility, because maintaining the Deus Ex Machina for the creation of artificial humans is almost as expensive as maintaining a D-class army, apart from the risk of damaging one of the few things that can restore humanity in its own right. a class K (end of the world) scenario, which would be tragic.
Because of this, this option is considered limited to emergency situations.
