Yesterday I had the chance to attend the first session of Bitcoin Talents, an educational program sponsored by the Frankfurt School Blockchain Centre.
I sent the application some weeks ago but honestly, I did not think I was going to be selected. I am not sure why I did not think I could be selected. I am in the crypto space since 2017 and I have already collaborated with a lot of different structures, privates and projects.
But then the selection email came, and yesterday I joined, together with more than 150 people from across the whole world.
The kick-off was held by Prof. Philipp Sandner, at the moment one of the most relevant people in Europe in the cryptocurrency space and the creator of such programmes.
The starting speech was about creating some awareness about the cryptocurrency space.
He started talking about Data about cryptocurrencies and wallets number, highlighting how people are growingly using or at least possessing cryptocurrencies.
Another part was about the conception of Bitcoin, starting at the beginning strongly as a E-cash backed by proof of concept.
In 2012 the narrative started talking about how Bitcoin could be used as a cheap payment network and there, started the tale about illicit payments, that went on towards 2014 and a few years later but became very weak in 2018.
In 2018, the idea of digital gold increased (and I am going to talk more about it in the coming days with a dedicated trilogy of articles about Gold, digital Gold and digitalized Gold).
The last very interesting concept has been about the fair evaluation of Bitcoin, making comparisons with the Gold market.
In 2019 Bitcoin was work 2.3% of Gold volume and in 2021 Bitcoin was worth 10% of Gold market value. There is still one thing to consider: Bitcoin has a limited supply that we can trace and we can be sure about it. What about Gold? In the last month another mineral field of Gold was discovered in Africa. What is the real total Gold supply?
I am so proud of being part of this Programme. We have a bi-weelky appointment and I will try to bring every time some updates from our sessions there, to share what we are asked to do and what I learn!
I hope you will appreciate!
Mike
