Who is Behind a “Hidden” Message in BTC Transactions Mined in 2010?

Yesterday, an entity transferred 1,000 BTC to an unknown address. This fact is insignificant in itself, because it happens all the time. However, the peculiarity of these movements lies in the fact that all the BTC involved were mined between August and November 2010 and had remained dormant since then. This set of transactions revealed a hidden message.

A look at the set of transactions of 50 BTC each (the mining reward at that time) that were consolidated in a single Bitcoin address allows one to read a message: «let's use full power of anonymity. The message translates as "let's use the power of anonymity" and then refers to a social networking website called Memo SV.

This is not the first time we have read this message. In 2021, different people classified a set of transactions as a dust attack, when someone sent almost 600 transactions to addresses with 0.00000547 BTC each. At that time you could also read a message similar to the one found yesterday.

Regarding the social network Memo SV, mentioned in the message, and the topic "hmwyda", there is no clarity about its purpose. In fact, there are numerous entries, dominated by messages to receive donations and numerous high-sounding speeches from users who largely also seem bewildered by the initial message about "the power of anonymity." Among the messages, written in Russian, Portuguese, English and Spanish, we can read some that suggest that Satoshi Nakamoto himself , creator of Bitcoin, would be behind this mystery. But it is unlikely.

There is also no evidence that it is Craig Wright, a businessman who calls himself the creator of Bitcoin and who is currently going through a trial where he intends to prove, so far without success , that he is the person behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Furthermore, there is no obvious link regarding the relationship between this social network and the Bitcoin Satoshi Vision project, a fork of Bitcoin Cash that emerged in 2018, as has been discussed on social networks.

The transactions this mystery miner executed did not stop when they were consolidated to the first address that received the funds. Subsequently, at least 100 new transactions were executed, and some were consolidated to other addresses. Few showed strange patterns, for example sequences of amounts in BTC that started from 0.00000547 BTC and followed one another in order: 0.00000548 BTC, 0.00000549 BTC and so on.

What does seem clear is that the person (or group of people) behind these movements has extensive knowledge of Bitcoin (and was probably a network miner in 2010), since a high technical level is needed to use the codes. of operations necessary to sort and manipulate the batch-executed transactions and addresses in the manner in which they were found. All without leaving traces of who it could have been.

Although at first some media reported that the operations were linked to BTC sales, because they took place just after the cryptocurrency reached a new ATH (all time high or historical record), there is not enough evidence that this was the main objective. of the entity that transferred these mined bitcoins in 2010.
