Composable Finance’s inaugural Unchained Conference, which featured some of the brightest minds in DeFi, took place in Berlin on July 1st, 2022. The event with high attendance was a day-long event packed with discussion and debate over core issues in DeFi and areas of innovation.
The discourse focused on interoperability in the DeFi space with keynotes and panels from industry leaders about major technological developments around interoperability. Topics discussed include:
- The implications of Composable’s modularly functional technology stack
- How Composable will link ecosystems like DotSama and Cosmos
- Trustless bridging
- Miner extracted value (MEV), and more.
The Unchained conference also marked the first live demonstration of Composable’s cross-chain virtual machine (XCVM). The XCVM enables the creation of modularly functional applications through multi-chain smart contracts. These smart contracts are written in the CosmWasm framework. Contracts written in this framework can interact across many chains, and abstract the complexity of DeFi away from the end user. This results in an experience where users can focus on what they want to do, rather than how to do it. The XCVM is therefore a necessary precondition for DeFi’s mass adoption, across both frontiers of value creation, and accessibility.
The Unchained conference debuted much of the Composable technology stack. Kicking off with a keynote from Composable’s founder and CEO 0xBrainjar on the XCVM. In addition to the unveiling of the XCVM, Composable’s presentations covered:
- Composable’s development of trustless bridges
- A breakdown of the XCVM’s architecture
- A live demo of an XCVM program
- Its DeFi primitive development arm Composable Labs
- 0xslenderman’s novel approach to UX design to abstract complexity and enable mass adoption
- Among others which you can find on Composable’s YouTube channel
Other panels covered hot button issues such as privacy on-chain, innovative uses of zero-knowledge proofs, institutional use of DeFi, and best practices to enable DeFi mass adoption. Speakers included founders, engineers, academics, and venture capitalists. Experts from prominent organizations such as; Parity, Halborn Security, Ethereum, Jump Crypto, D1 Ventures, Celestia, and many more participated in our panels and keynote speeches. Some of these speakers include:
- Co-founder of Polkadot, Robert Habermier
- Cosmos Hub lead, Billy Rennekamp
- Founder of the CosmWasm framework, Ethan Frey
With speakers originating from Cosmos, Polkadot, Celestia and EVM ecosystems - the Unchained Conference was the first discussion of what a truly cross-chain future means for DeFi users and builders alike. The unveiling of Composable's XCVM marks the beginning of a new era for DeFi. An era focused on modular functionality, and seamless UX which will ultimately lead to mass adoption.
