Most of us are familiar with the story of Laszlo Hanyecz.

On May 22, 2010 Laszlo bought two large pizzas from Papa John’s for 10,000 bitcoin - worth around $41 at the time (damn, Papa John’s pizzas have always been expensive, haven’t they).

But what happened to the money?

Hanyecz has never even tried to remain anonymous, and he's sometimes made it sound like he owned more ‘just’ 10,000 BTC at the time.

This probably explains why he doesn’t mind being known as the man who spent millions of dollars on two pizzas. He probably still owns a lot of BTC.

The money eventually made it to the ends of one Jeremy Sturdivant.

The (then) 19-year-old student who got ahold of the 10,000 BTC said he spend most of it on travel with his girlfriend.

Speaking to The Telegraph in 2018, Sturdivant said he “never thought that the same number of Bitcoin would have a purchasing power on the order of real estate.”

As for Hanyecz, he said he has no regrets. He said he wanted to “do the pizza thing because, to me, it was free pizza. I got pizza for contributing to an open-source project.”

He also said he had the chance to speak with Nakamoto himself/herself/themselves “once or twice”.
